Mr Jackson at Feinstein's

Saw the show last night, the place was packed, SRO. Cheyenne Jackson delivered a first-class cabaret show that was dazzling. His immense talent, charisma, grace, humor and charm were breathtaking. He worked the room like a pro and wove stories of his life with the songs he sang. Did I mention that he is incredibly handsome and when he sings you are caressed by his voice? By all means, I highly recommend the experience, even if you have to stand.

At this late date, I don't think anyone needs convincing that Cheyenne is drop-dead gorgeous. He's just one of those blessed souls who has everything -- looks, talent, personality. It seems unfair to the rest of us mere mortals that all that was vested in one individual but vested he is and will continue to be. And he's even the type who will age beautifully.

Sorry I missed it. Would love to see him on Sunday night when he's there. But, I live in Los Angeles. Will be back in NYC at the end of April, seeing new shows.

I could kick myself for procrastinating until today to get a ticket. I called Feinstein's today- the reservationists take calls between 10 am and 6 pm. The woman was very nice...told me that Sunday was sold out, but that I could by a standing room ticket for $50.00. She took my credit card # to reserve my place and said that on Sunday the might be able to upgrade me to a seat with a table- and then they'd get to charge me whatever the minimum is etc. I was there for Linda Eder last year and found it very easy to run up a big tab at the table. It's a pretty small room....but my coworker who has gone 2x to see betty Buckley and is going again tonight said that they added additional tables for betty's show on Saturday night.

I knew it was a soul song I was just completely blanking on the name just now, I don't know why.

I found it to be expensive too considering we didn't have much...two of us with an entree each, one of us got a single glass of wine, and one dessert that we shared came to be $100 without tip.

RE: Cost of the show. That's the way it is -- upper-echelon cabaret is primarily for the higher income crowd. I know I don't belong in that league and going at all, let alone on a regular basis, is simply beyond my wallet. Do I like that? No, absolutely not. Do I have to live with it? Yes, unfortunately.

I was there last night, too. It was an incredible show. Cheyenne told some great and funny stories about his time since he moved to NYC.

One that I found hilarious that I'll share here was, he was talking about how he and his partner are both very tall guys. Monte (his partner) is even taller than Cheyenne. And one thing they have fun doing when they get the chance is, when they're in a crowd, they like to surround short straight men and "emasculate" them, as Cheyenne said.

He said last week he and Monte were in an elevator surrounding this short little straight businessman. So the little fella is crowded in. He looks up at Cheyenne, he looks up at Monte, and he says, "Are you guys brothers?" Cheyenne says, "No, we're actually partners." The guy says, "Oh... What kinda business you guys in?" Monte was wearing sunglasses, and he lowers them, looks down at the man and says, "Monkey business." Then they both started laughing.

The audience was laughing hysterically. I don't know if it's coming across here as funny as it was last night, but the way Cheyenne was telling it, with the voice of the short straight guy, it was hilarious.

Cheyenne has such a wonderful personality. He is so very out and open about being gay, and that just made the audience feel even closer to him. It's so rare to have an open, out, shameless, proud gay male actor who completely uncensored talks about himself as a real gay man, and not some fake persona who "happens to be gay," as so many actors put it.

The house was about 60% men (I was joking with my friends that I imagined every single one must have been gay), and 40% women.

Yes, the food is overpriced (and crappy tasting), the room is jam packed super tight, the wait staff is awful, but Cheyenne was 1000% worth it. It was the most intimate, entertaining cabaret I have ever had the joy of seeing.

GottaHaveAGimmick, Cheyenne did come out afterwards. He was a total doll and chatted with those of us who were left.

He said an album is on his "To Do" List.

Foster, how long was it when he finally came out? I was still there for about 45 minutes after the show ended and he hadn't come out yet.

I didn't care for the place, either. And for those prices, the show should at least go for an hour and a half. I still prefer Birdland.
