Mr. Manley ...

Mr. Manley ...

... Pope, long-time Roger in the tour and then Broadway casts of RENT. (Shown here with the ethereal Simone as Mimi).

What's he been up to lately?

re: Mr. Manley ...

I saw him sing a song from The Woman in White at one of those Broadway Kitchen Sink concerts a little less than a year ago. Before and after that, though, he seems to have dropped off of the musical theater radar.

He was my first Roger. And he is very pretty.

That Mimi reminds me of Adriane Lenox.

Simone was an incredible Mimi. Just wonderful.

re: Mr. Manley ...

Oh wow, good memories. Simone was one of my favourite Mimis ever. And for some reason, I'm incredibly hard to please when it comes to Mimis. But I loved her. Manley, too.

... As Roger, though. Not as Mimi. I'd love to see him in anything right now.

re: Mr. Manley ...

He was worlds better than the first Roger he replaced on the first stop of the first national tour.

re: Mr. Manley ...

I saw Manley last summer in CLO's production of The Who's Tommy in Pittsburgh. He was great and it was a treat to see him onstage again. Jared Stein, current MD of the Rent tour, was also in the show.

Indeed he did. :)

re: Mr. Manley ...

You know, he may have looked a bit He-Man to be an ex-junkie with HIV, but I bet that served Tommy well.

re: Mr. Manley ...

Pope most recently reprised his performance as Tommy at a Equity regional theater in Rockford, Illinois called the New American Theatre. They were real excited that they got a "Broadway person" to come out there!

re: Mr. Manley ...

I also saw him as Tommy and I'm a much bigger Alice Ripley fan than a Manley Pope fan so I focused on her more...however he was very good in the role. That was the last I heard of him.

He was my first Roger too, I also agree that he is really pretty

Pretty and dreamy.
