Sally, I agree, to a point.
The basic plot of "Mr & Mrs. Fitch" is, as you say, unbelievable.
There is NO WAY that they invented a stranger which made them "on top", as gossip peeps. It's a ridiculous conceit. See Michael Musto's career.
Still, as a piece, I think Mr. and Mrs. Fitch WORKS. The references are hysterical. I laughed my ass off. I had a good time in the theatre. And I love Carter-Beane's work. Whether the critics agree remains to be seen.
