I might see it tonight. If not, on Saturday. I have high hopes as I've only been hearing raves about it. 
What surpised me is that they apparently have no student rush, Munk. A friend of mine went the other day and got 2nd row in the mezz with his student ID.
Maybe they changed their policy due to the good reviews.

Don't forget about Amy Ryan who is nuanced and wonderful as Stella in "Streetcar" (and is the perfect foil to Natasha's Blanche).
I think the competition will be between her, Adriane Lenox, Mirielle Enos, Lisa Gay Hamilton and Ari Graynor.

Don't forget about Amy Ryan who is nuanced and wonderful as Stella in "Streetcar" (and is the perfect foil to Natasha's Blanche).

I agree, I was so pleasantly surprised by this play. I was totally engaged the entire time! I'm recommending it to everyone I possibly can!
As someone very familiar with the setting of the play, albeit not the time frame, I found it very easy to relate to, and had felt the frustrations of both Fr. Flynn and Sister Aloysius, as well as the nervousness of Sister James. I grew up around sisters and catholic schools, so it was really interesting to see the similarities even now to the characters and the environment.
I agree with you Munk, a little bit at least, about the "that way" thing. I wasn't entirely convinced either, but I wonder if he actually came out to his parents, or if it's something his parents pick up on and suspect. Especially since back then, even suspecting could cause a father to react that way. It's another thing about this play to consider.

I did think of that - that the parents just have a clue and that the boy might truly not really "know" himself, and that's very likely. It didn't take away from the play, but it's the only thing I questioned.

I also didn't really buy that a young teenaged kid in 1964 would come out to his parents, but I just kind of suspended that because I was enjoying the play so much.

I believe that Lenox will be nominated. She has a very good chance of winning. She will make my end-of-the-season list, for sure.

Parents usually know before children themselves know. The boy is described as shy and quiet, and his mother talks about his "nature". All code, I believe for a boy who is gay but doesn't yet know it himself.
Coincidentally, a friend with three boys has a 12-year-old son going through the exact same phenomenon. His mother and father assume that he is gay, but he has described himself as "confused" as to what he is.

I believe the whole cast will be nominated and is it possible for them all to win (If goldenhersh and lennox both get nominated in the same category)? I don't know of anytime that happened. But, i find it really funny that the 2 biggest plays of the season are playing right on opposite sides of the street. Same thing with the musicals (well not exaclty but close)

I would certainly vote for Lenox over anyone else I've seen so far - but then again, I haven't seen MAGNOLIAS or STREETCAR.

Her name is above the title, but after seeing the show, it really is a featured role. If you're judging based on the movie, know that they REALLY expanded the role for Hepburn. I wouldn't nominate her in either category. She was just okay.

I don't see why Uggams would be featured over leading. It's basically the story of Norman and Ethel, while her role may not impact as much as Norman's, it's still a leading role.

Gugino was absolutely brilliant in every sense of the word. A total revelation. To see an actress in her Broadway debut-who had never really done stage work before-be up there and be THAT GOOD was an experience. Just a true star performance. I hope that she comes back to Broadway very, very soon!

Probably not. Although, between all of the possibilities, she got some of the best reviews. Even those who didn't like the show raved about her.
