Just up on the AP a couple of hours ago. It sounds a little tongue in cheek, but who knows?
'The Nanny Diaries' musical in store for Scarlett Johansson, Donna Murphy?
Washington, Aug 21 : Actress Scarlett Johansson and her 'The Nanny Diaries' co-star Donna Murphy are hoping to turn their movie into a musical.
Murphy revealed that the upcoming comedy-drama film had references to 'Mary Poppins', the fictional magical nanny, on which 1964 Walt Disney American musical film is based, and she hoped to take her movie to the stage as well.
"There are references to Mary Poppins in the film and I'd really like to see The Nanny Diaries: The Musical. I hope they cast me in that," Contactmusic quoted Murphy, as saying.
The actress who won a Tony Award for best actress in a musical for her performance as Fosca in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's 'Passion' revealed, that she and Scarlett were good singers so they can pull the act well.
"Scarlett and I love to sing and (producer) Harvey (Weinstein) wanted us to have a little duet. He would come on the set every once in a while and say, `Can't they do a little something? You know they both sing?' So Nanny Diaries, The Musical why not?" she said.
If there is a "Nanny Diaries" musical, can it at least RESEMBLE the book? Reading the plot synopsis on the film's website...it sounds nothing like the book at all. And I love that book.
