Musical Ideas for On or Off Bway

One that comes to mind is "An Affair To Remember"

This would be a great intimate musical

Walk Two Moons
A musical about the Internet
A musical about a high school reunion
A musical about a man whose destiny is to save his nation
War and Peace
A musical about a man who succumbs to evil and is ultimately redeemed (think Star Wars without spaceships and lightsabers.)
Butters, go buy World of Warcraft, install it on your computer, and join the online sensation before we all murder you. --Cartman: South Park ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."

Could someone please just produce a Disney "Hunchback of Notre Dame" musical? Then I could die in peace...

Oh! How about "The Princess Bride"? Oops..too late...

Glindagirl, disney did do hunchback as a musical. However, it was done in Germany and they never planned to do it in america.

Coyote Ugly off broadway though. I think that would be a great show just because of the music and plot. Something about girls dancing on bars that are on fire will get husbands and boyfriends to the theater. lol

re: Musical Ideas for On or Off Bway

They could do it in a bar...like Tony and Tina's Wedding.....

How about a real dramatic musical about a House of Parliament? I don't think that's ever been done before.

theaterdude, Pasek and Paul are fantastic! I saw Jake Wilson and BP do "Anytime" on LORD-VOLDESITE, and it was jsut amazing. They need to become huge in life. All three of them have to.

And it's Elegies... hah.

re: Musical Ideas for On or Off Bway

Elegies? I thought that was William Finn.

When I got the cd from a friend it was written as Edges: A song cycle...i thought it was very close with Elegies: A Song Cycle.

Oh man, I'm out of it. I was just coming here to correct myself. Yeah, it IS Edges. I just got thrown off because last night I was watching Wilson and Pasek sing Elegies. Ah. Thanks.

I know everyone is fed up with movies being adapted into stage shows, but I would LOVE a Waiting For Guffman show. It would be simply amazing! And a This Is Spinal Tap show could also be very good too.

uhm... "Walk Two Moons" was done last year by Theaterworks USA, and it was fantastic.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

I am currently working on a musical inspired by the oft told "Vanishing Hitchhiker" ghost stories, and more specifically the "Resurrection Mary" legend from Chicago.

I have finished several drafts of a basic plot synopsis and penned a couple exploratory songs.

re: Musical Ideas for On or Off Bway

Im pretty sure the vanishing hitchiker thing was done in 3hree, which was a great musical with a great score, at least the first one.

I'd love to see a musical of Vanity Fair, or rather an opera.
a musical about "backstage" at a reality show
a 9/11 musical/opera could be very powerful (not the event, but the aftermath, or an allegory)
a musical version of You Can't Take it With You

re: Musical Ideas for On or Off Bway

I've written a show (and am currently in the "fabulous" pitching process) based on the true story of the voyage of the St. Louis in 1939. The St. Louis, being a luxery liner which served as a refugee ship to 937 Jews fleeing Germany in the midst of persecution. The story is more popularly known as "The Voyage of the Damned" and was written as a book and turned into a movie in 1976 with a slew of big name actors. The musical is not based on that material, but rather the factual transcripts and accounts.

Love to hear what people think about this... I've gotten pretty positive feedback from several producers... Currently it's on the shelf at the 5th Avenue theatre in Seattle and I'm waiting for a response.

Also working on a website which should be up in a couple months where you can access the libretto and demo music.
