Does anyone else on this board listen to the cast recordings from musicals incessantly until they have learned all of the lyrics? I just want to know if that is the "normal" behavior for a musical lover, or if I'm just crazy.

My biggest pet peeve right now is when people pronounce it "Marry-us" and not "Mah-ree-us".

Not every cast album I ever get, but the ones I love I usually end up listening to enough times to memorize the lyrics, yes.

^ Same here. I don't TRY to memorize the lyrics, but after having the CD playing in my car for about month, I usually know the lyrics by heart.

"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "

Oh cool. That makes me feel a little bit better about my strange "hobby".

It's not so much that they're listened to incessantly; some of us have just had a little more time for songs to sink in. For instance, I bought my (first) copy of MY FAIR LADY in 1963 (paper route money). I say that with much pride, if little hair.
(PS- You've not really heard MY FAIR LADY until you've heard it in Hebrew.)
