Musical Theatre Playlist for Romeo and Juliet

Howdy

As a class assignment, we have to come up with two songs for each act of Romeo and Juliet. I'm planning on doing all musical theatre songs. Does anyone have any suggestions for songs about family rivalry/fighting? Or any other ideas in general? Thanks.

Suggestions: do your own homework. Ten songs isn't that hard, really.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

oh haha I'm almost done, I was just having a hard time coming up with a song that described the rivalry between the families/ the brawl at the beginning. The first thing that came to mind was The Rumble from WSS, but it'd be kind of hard to write a paragraph about how the lyrics fits with only indistinctive yelling :) It isn't hard at all, I was just trying to find songs that really fit so it would be easier to write the paper that goes along with the assignment.

If you stick with The Rumble, you may want to use that for Act III, as that moment is pretty obviously meant to be a parallel to Tybalt killing Mercutio, and then Romeo killing Tybalt.

I think it would be easy to write a paragraph about the lyrics; the lack of lyrics is significant. It's an explicitly named track, yet is entirely choreography. Think about why that may be, and what that adds to the texture of the scene/the show.
