Musical with a bridge/wall set

I'm not sure if this might belong on the student or the off-topic board...so sorry in advance.

The girl who's going to be directing our spring musical at school hinted that one of its major set pieces is going to be a bridge or a wall. Does anyone know any musicals that fall under this category? It's also one of the band director's favorite musicals - and as far as I know, South Pacific is his favorite. But I don't know if South Pacific has bridges or walls. Can anyone help?

Les Miz?

Les Miz...wow...dunno if my school could handle that. But it'd be great if we did that! Thanks for the suggestions - and anyone else who wants to guess, keep 'em coming! :)

Yeah, I know, it's a great clue. The director loves teasing us. I don't know why they don't just tell us what it is in advance, so we can prepare.

Amour has a wall. The whole premise of the show is that the main character can walk through walls

Mayhaps Beauty and the Beast...

re: Musical with a bridge/wall set

ya this can go on forever. How many musicals have some sort of wall!?
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

I think every musical has some sort of wall involved.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife

I really think its footloose. Most schools can build the brisge and do a wall of grafitti. But i would be interested to know what infact it is so please update us.

Scarlet Pimpernel has a bridge.
David walked into the valley With a stone clutched in his hand He was only a boy But he knew someone must take a stand There will always be a valley Always mountains one must scale There will always be perilous waters Which someone must sail -Into the Fire Scarlet Pimpernel

Doesn't Urinetown?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

re: Musical with a bridge/wall set

I think you guys are missing the most famous one of them all:

"Cyrano The Musical"

That has a bridge and a wall in it.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian
