Need some help. Call me dork, but I'm putting together some mp3 compilations on CD (remember those?). In my efforts to stick with themes, I'm looking for musicals about television or with television as a plot element. So far I've only come up with Hairspray, Top Banana and My Favorite Year. Can anyone think of shows about television? I'm not referring to shows like Happy Days that are based on television. I'm talking about the actual business of television. If there is a previous thread about this, direct me there.

and "Hairspray", of course. The Corny Collins show

My Favorite Year is the most obvious to me. The entire show revolves around the main character's guest appearance on a television show.

Tommy has some television interview scenes. How to Succeed had the big television promotion for the treasure hunt. Six Months Out of Every Year from Damn Yankees takes place while the husbands are watching a game on TV.

Wasn't the short-lived musical Shelter about television?

"Texas Has a Whorehouse in It" from "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" is set in a television studio soundstage. Also, you could technically also put pretty much anything from "Jerry Springer: The Opera" on there, if you want to count that.

Do! Re! Mi! Has a song about watching movies on the late, late show.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
