Oh, really? I have it on VHS, thank god!
The DVD of Smokey Joe's Cafe is great, and captures the experience as well as any video of a live performance that I've ever seen.
There's also a DVD of the Public Theater production of PIRATES OF PENZANCE (Rex Smith, Kevin Kline, Linda Rondstadt, Patricia Routledge) that was taped live at NYC's Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

It makes me feel GREAT to see the FOSSE stuff on here! He was TRULY a remarkable person!
Just bought The Magic Show on DVD. Sure it's a little dated. And Did Conn isn't that great a singer, but it's all worth it for the song "Style". The music is great. The show, in a whole sucks. Pull a rabbit outta that one.

I've heard Doug Henning is fun to watch in a campy way. Didn't they change a lot of the score for the DVD?
I gotta admit I think I'm gonna buy it--I like the music and can enjoy a bit of camp...
the Oklahoma drives me crazy how it's filmed. it's restaged on a huge soundstage--much like what Trevor Nunn did for his similar staged version of Porgy and Bess that was filmed. And they lip synch to the CD for the songs! And then they film these audiences applauding moments at the end of tracks so we think it's performed live but they just break you out of the show and feel so *weird*.
