I was making a categorized list of musicals, part of which involves organizing as many as I can into the time period (that the show is set in, not when it was written or performed) and I could use some additional shows particularly for the 80s. But if you have some for any other time periods that would be helpful too.
American Psycho
RENT late 80's

RENT only takes place in the '80s for one week.
SONG AND DANCE
LA CAGE AUX FOLLES
THE LIFE
FALSETTOS
ON YOUR FEET! (much of it)
SHOWBOAT is set in the 1880's. Does that count?
When I think of musicals from and about the 80s, I think of Chess.
CARRIE. A delicious 1980s time capsule in every possible way from the music, the costumes, the hair to Debbie Allen’s legendary jazzercise-ish choreography.

If you're counting unpublished musicals, I wrote one that takes place in 1984, "Big Bucks: The Press Your Luck Scandal". We did a reading of it in Manhattan and I'm hoping see a full production someday soon.
