What is everyone's favorite solo from a musical? I'm absolutely in love with The Portrait from "A, my name is Alice" but I know theres tons!

I too love the Portarait. I used to have a bootleg copy of the original actress singing that song. Does anyone know where I can get it? I have Amanda McBroom singing it, but it's not as dramatic as the original cast person...whoever that was.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I love Good Morning Baltimore, even though it is not a full solo. But my favourite's are all the solo's in Les Misérables. Especially Little People!

Speaking of Ragtime... Make Them Hear You, if performed right, is a tear-jerker. I am also a fan of A Christmas Lullaby from SFANW.

I love My New Philosophy! Two of my good friends did that with my Madrigal/show choir and I completely fell in love with it. I'm looking for a song to sing for the spring program (Mezzo sop.- low a/b to high c/d)and I was just looking for some ideas. I might pull out "For Good" from Wicked and just do a duet with someone. I love that song. Though I was looking for a solo...hmmm

I can't really pick one, but my favorite at the moment is "Never Never Land" from Piece The Musical by Scott Alan. Mmm, on his website there's a video of Stephanie Block doing it at Standing Ovations. Brilliant. I also love Brian Lowdermilk's stuff, including "In His Arms" from The Woman Upstairs. And Peter Mills' "How Long?" from Taxi Cabaret is pretty brilliant also.

"Private Conversation" even though it's not just him singing all the time. For the most part, the song is sung by one person.

"You Don't Know This Man"
