She went on -- she was awful. The phrase "dumbed down" choreography is SO far from the truth.. it's more like there was barely ANY choreography. I'm so much more alarmed than you can even imagine.

I feel kinda bad. Can you imagine knowing that your co-stars as well as the audience think you're doing a really crappy job? She may get better in time. It may take her a while to get situated within the role...ahem, Bernadette in Gypsy. Who knows, maybe by the August she'll be good. Of course she could always buckle under the pressure and leave early. Although, I doubt the Weissler's (sp?) would allow that. She's a NAME and will draw in tourists.

Ooh wow, don't compare Melanie getting acclimated to Bernadette getting acclimated. That's a total diss to Bernie! lol

And actually, the show was already selling at 103% with Tracy playing Roxie... The tourists are coming because of the movie... honestly, who cares about Melanie? If the show was bombing, I could understand it.. but it's not. *sigh*

Last I heard, the cast was helping her toward the 'X' on the stage floor right under the VERY heavy sandbag hanging from the rope that the ensemble member right offstage is getting ready to cut.

Wow. I'm sorry she was that bad. Definitely not surprised, but sorry. She's been rehearsing for what, 3 months? If she doesn't have it now, I doubt she ever will.
