Hey Everyone... I decided I want to write a review on the show...so if you are interested please let me know how i did lol.
Two of my friends and I were in the city just hanging out and decided to see something that was on the TKTS board... well luckily for us La Cage was up there, and something all three of us could agree on.
This production was incredible, and I do not understand why it didnt get RAVE reviews. I thought all the leads were perfect...Mr Davis has a great voice and is a masterful actor. He really was wonderful, I had no clue how talented he was! His "look over there" and "song in the sand" were just beautifully sung and acted...just a great great performance.
I really loved Mr Beach. He acted the role supurbly, and while i do not feel his vocal on I AM WHAT I AM matches the power of Mr Hearn's original, He was definatly suited for the role. His rendition of the song was a highlight for me, and I think he gave a terrific overall performance. His comedic timing is great, and his ZaZa numbers were really entertaining! He was very funny, and also gave a great emotional range throughout the show. I loved him (and he is very nice in person!)
The rest of the cast was terrific... Gavin was in great voice, as were the rest of the leads/ supporting cast. Standout performance by the guy who played Jacob!!! He was really funny!
The Cagelles were the best part of the show. They were funny, and mesmorizing. The things they did blew us away. They have very strong vocals, and the dancing is phenomonal. They really brought you into the showw, and got the energy levels up! Standout by Andy P as the white bird.... it is the coolest dance sequence I have ever seen in a show..... It was really THAT amazing lol. Go see it for that one scene...you wont be disappointed.
I thought the overall design was great. I loved the outdoor set of the street in France... in both daylight and night...it looked beautiful! The Chez Jaqulene (I butchered the spelling sorry lol) was also another beautiful set. The apartment was beautiful as well! Costumes were great!!! Very colorful!
Overall I would give this production an A. I was thoroughly entertained! The cast provide amazing vocals, well acted and heartfelt performaces, and some F***ing incredible dance numbers. I really do not know how you can leave without a smile on your face...and one of those beautiful melodies in your head.
Please ask if you want more clarification on anything! I am happy to revisit my time at La Cage!!! Take care!
