I am going to try to keep this short and sweet.
A Catared Afair, July 25th
I really liked this show, a lot! it isn't one of those shows that has you dancing on your feet by the end, but it has you thinking, and feeling by the curtain call. faith was amayzing, although her crying in one scene seemed a little forced, or a little too real, cause i actually know someone who crys like that. all in all, SOOOOOO glad to see it before it closed
Xanadu July 26th Mat.
met a fellow broadwayworld member there...first broadway show for them, and was it a goodie!
Whoppi was in the balcony with a secrutiy guard...there were only 40 people in the balcony, orchestra was full, which made me happy...(A Catered Affair was near empty) i sat on stage and dressed up, yeah, as a muse. anywho, they cast ate that S*** up...jackie made fun of me SOOO bad, and i thanked her afterwards. she said "What is this, some pathetic cry for help? What? when you go see the little mermaid do you dress as a fish?" there was about a minuet pause cause the actors were trying not to break character. curtis looked back at me and bit his lip, then jackie made a fish motion with her hands and puckered her lips....that show was AMAYZING. i honestly can say i liked xanadu better thatn wicked, which is saying something since i know about everyone who has pleayed a witch in that show. overall, the show was really great. i personally liked curtis. i'm not going to say better than cheyanne because i haven't seen cheyanne in the role. i was a little upset to see and understudy for mary, but she was really good. when i go back in december, i am DEF going to see it again.
Rent july 26th eve,
this was my 4th time seeing the show, 1.9th grade, 2.10th grade, 3.11th grade, 4. post graduation. anywho, it was the best cast ive seen, with the exclusion of the mark. he was too breathy and nasal, (in my opinion) it was tracie thoms first night performance, 2nd ever, and she was on spot. her and eden had the best chimestry on stage, justin jonston was amayzing as usual, he will forever be my angel (as he is the only one ive seen) and will chase was great. who stole the show for me however was the understudy for collins, who brought so much to that role that night...and gwen stewart who's rendition of SOL was FANTABULOUS!
well, that is all, thanks for reading
Thanks for posting reviews. It is always nice to read other members thoughts on shows they saw.
HA! I love that you dressed up as a muse.
I wish I could have seen that performance.
They should make it a requirement that if you're going to sit on stage, you somewhat dress the part.
yeah, i'll be dressing up again in december, hopefully jackie will be back and she'll remember me. i know she's returning after whoppi, but i just loved this show. i'll put a pic up soon...just got home
While I appreciate the reviews...
Why go to a Broadway show dressed as anything but yourself, thus pulling focus from the REAL performers and the general enjoyment of the audience? I find it, well, sad.
What has the professional theatre turned into? This is BROADWAY, not some local, homegrown schlock where you give verbal 'snaps' to your friends as they wail through the score. Xanadu isn't Rocky Horror (and never will be).
Also: In the future, please use spellcheck.

They were just writing a review, I didn't see anywhere in the rules for this board that all spelling has to be one hundred percent correct or in your case, that you have to be rude to every person you talk to.

BELIEVE ME, you DON'T pull focus from the actors. Even if you're onstage. The audience members blend into the background. Most of the time they're not even lit up fully.
And a show like Xanadu welcomes things like people dressing up. As long as you're not wearing some huge coustume that sticks up into the air 10 feet there's nothing wrong with it. The cast all cracked up as they noticed the outfit. Someone's just jealous they weren't there! :P
I actually think if the on-stage audience was dressed up for it, they would blend in better with the cast.
Xanadu should totally turn into the next Rocky Horror!
Cult classic Broadway. :)
Glad you had a nice trip!
thanks to all, and sorry i can't spell
