My Rent Review June 30th

Well i went to the show tonight with my mom and my friend and her mom and sat 3rd row right behind "Bo" haha and had such an awesome time!


So its been like i think a year since I have seen Rent and tonight was one of the best performances I have seen.

Matt Caplan- Mark
This boy is just amazing. He did so many different things tonight which make the character stay fresh. His TM with Merle was absolutely amazing, he kept trying to make her laugh the entire song. I never really realized how great the chemistry between him and cary was and it was really shown through tonight. They are so amazing together and they are so funny! Caplan had an amazing performance tonight, so great!

Cary Shields- Roger
Amazing is all I can say about his performance tonight. I have seen Cary before this but tonight was the best performance I have seen. His OSG almost made me cry(gets me everytime Shields). Oh and him and Karmine are my favorite Mimi and Roger pair. They are absolutely the cutest thing and their chemistry is uncanny. His performance was breathtaking tonight. I saw things that I have never seen him do before, and I just sat back and was like he is truly amazing. It was outstanding, he is such a talent and one of the sweetest guys ever. You made the night a great one Cary, thank you.

Karmine Alers- Mimi
This woman is Mimi. That is all that can be said. I have seen her many times but tonight there was just something different about her performance. Her voice is just a powerhouse and she can never disapoint. Her chemistry with Cary was breathtaking and her GL, Oh my was that emotional. The whole show I had to keep looking at her cause she had so many surprises to show the audience. AD and OT were absolutely phenominal. Best performance I have seen from her.

Destan Owens- Tom Collins
Now my first Collins was MRF and that is a hard act to follow but Destan was very very good. Him and Justin were just adorable together. So cute! But what really stood out was his ICYR. He was crying so hard that he couldn't sing at one part. Now that got me choked up, it was just so emotional. He was totally on tonight and he was just so great!

D'Monroe- Benny
He never disapoints, he is always on his game. He gives a solid performance each and everytime on that stage. He seemed though tonight to be having a lot of fun up there and it could really show. All in all he had a great show!

Merle Dandridge- Joanne
I have seen her numerous amounts of times and she gives a solid performance every time. She can be sometimes boring I have found, but tonight she seemed to really let go and have a good time. TMOLM was amazing and so hot. Her TM with Matt was so funny because she was trying so hard not to laugh. Great show from her.

Justin Johnston- Angel
Here is the man who stole the show. Everyone loved him. I have seen him perform as Angel before, but this performance he gave was so over the top that it blew his other performaces out of the water. Though at first in T4Y I thought he sounded raspy, as the show continued he got stronger and more emotional. It was fantastic, him on the table with Collins was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever seen. Amazing! Justin never disapoints!! He is just phenominal

*Caren Lyn Manuel- Maureen
I have seen her Mimi but never her Maureen and i wasn't dissapointed. She has such an amazing voice and I am so happy i got to see her perform. Her and Merle were a good pair together. Sometimes I find that an understudy going on makes the coupling seem akward but not in this case. Her TMOLM was out of this world and OTM was so great. She did great tonight!

Enrico Rodriguez- Steve and others
Shaun Earl- Paul and others
Sala Iwamatsu- Alexi and others

The entire ensemble was on fire tonight. Such an outstanding group of performers. Crystals solo in SOL was breathtaking, so clear and fresh. Enrico was so funny tonight. In LVB I couldn't stop staring at him, too cute! All the rest of them were fantastic and seemed to be having so much fun!


After the show got to see Cary, Matt, Karmine, and D'Monroe. They were all super sweet and took time with everyone. Cary you were such a sport with my mom haha. But everyone seemed to be having a great time. Well as you can see, if you made it to the bottom of this haha, that i had an outstanding time at Rent tonight. This show tonight was so fresh and just so breathtaking. It was one of my favorite performances at Rent. It was a great and outstanding night!

Sounds like a great time. Heard your mom was "overjoyed" to see Cary tonight. Gotta get over there and check him out in Rent one of these days!

yes "overjoyed" would be a good way to describe it lol. Yes we all must go back and see Rent together really soon!

Caryn is by far the hottest, sexiest girl on Broadway right now. I would get shy being within a few hundred meters of her.

Oh and the show was very enjoyable !!
