On Saturday August 27th I saw Spelling Bee with my dad. The cast was amazing. I could hardly stop laughing. I was also a speller in that show which was so much fun. Dan Fogler was brilliantly m hilarious and a very believable character as William Barfee. Celia Keenan-Bolger who was Olive Ostrovsky sounded great, especially during 'The I Love You Song' during which I got a little teary, though it seemed she had a problem hitting one or two of the notes. Deborah S. Craig was great as Marcy Park. I sat next to her on the bleachers as a speller. She sounded great and acted hilariously during 'I Speak Six Languages'. Sarah Saltzberg was Logainne Schartzandgrubenierre and was great. I loved her performance during 'Woe Is Me' and the audience felt so sad for her during 'Woe Is Me (Reprise)'. Jose Llana was Chip Tolentino and kept the audience very satisfied satisfied with his performance especially with 'Pandemonium (Reprise)' and 'M.U.E (Chip's Lamont)' I even got some of the candy that he was throwing. Jesse Tyler Fergussen played Leaf Coneybear and was the funniest character. His dialouge is brilliant and he'a a very funny singer furing 'I'm Not That Smart' Derrick Baskin played Mitch Mahoney and was funny throughout the show and proficent during 'Prayer of The Comfort Counseler' which was my goodbye song. Lisa Howard was Rona Peretti and her dialougue got better with each line. She's a fantastic singer throughout the whole show. Jay Reiss wasn't there to play Douglas Panch, so he was played by Todd Buonopane. He had great dialouge and was very amusing right through the show. So basically, everyone was great and I had a great time as a speller and an audience member.
Yay for Todd going on!!!
That's his Broadway debut, if I'm not mistaken. Congrats to him.
Glad you liked Spelling Bee. It's definitely one of my favorites.
Glad you enjoyed, its so funny!
One Song: were you at the matinee or evening performance? I was at the matinee and absolutely loved every second of it. I found myself guffawing at some of the lines. Anyone who hasn't seen it should go. I got standing room tickets and did not even think about my poor tired feet until the end.

Being a speller is so cool. When I was going to spell my first word, the person playing Ms. Peretti said 'Child prodigy, this speller is currently writing an opera in brail.' that made me laugh. My first word was 'cow' after I spelled it, 'Pandemonium' started, in which I was dancing with all the characters and jumping around all over the stage. They asked me to spell what I think was 'catazone' if that's even a word. I spelled it right and the cast looked suprised and the audience was laughing and cheering for me. Then I was called again to spell a word that I know doesn't exist. I got the first letter wrong. I was the last audience meber to get a word wrong. It was a memorable experience.
Todd was great. Some of his lines are great. Really good actor.
OSG - awesome.
I think they gave cow to the person I saw too.
And Mexicans.
I saw you One Song! You were great! My favorite thing they said about you was "Her favorite television show is That's So Raven"

You two saw me? That's so cool. Yeah, I laughed at the That's So Raven thing. It actually is a show I like to watch sometimes so I nodded and did a thumbs up thing.
Well, about five or ten minutes before 2:00, a bunch of people who signed up to be a speller was infront of the doors. The woman who asked questions about if you were a good speller and signed everyone up announced four people who were the spellers. The woman said they picked the four people who had the best reactions to the questions or something like that.
Yeah Todd!! And how fun for you to be a speller! One day I'll see this show. How I don't know, but one day.
VERY funny show!!glad you liked it!!
Go Todd!!!

I hope you get to be a speller, Jess. It really is great. Now I can say that I made my Broadway debut at 12. After the show, some people came up to me and praised me and told me I should act more on Broadway and that felt so good and fulfilling. One of the best experiences of my life.
