I just saw Xanadu this past Sunday while at the Flea Market, and I figured I'd share my thoughts. I'll try to keep this short and spoiler-free.
Overall, I thought the show was a lot of fun. It's not perfect, but it was definitely one of the most enjoyable shows I've seen on Broadway. I really liked the book by Douglas Carter Beane; I thought it moved at a nice pace and was pretty funny! I also really enjoyed the choreography, which blended well with the music and the story. I wasn't too fond of the direction because I thought it started to feel stale and repetitive as the show went on.
I thought Kerry Butler was wonderful. She had a great presence and was very lovable in the role. Andre Ward was on in the role of Sonny, and, although I was a bit disappointed that Cheyenne was out, I thought he did a nice job in the role. His strongest point during the show was during "Don't Walk Away". Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman were just as fabulous as everyone said they were!
I had a lot of fun at Xanadu, and am very happy that I got to see it before it closes! If anyone has any questions about the show, I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.
