SCHOOL GIRLS headed to Broadway

Jun 22, 2026 — 8:48:26 PM

I saw (and thoroughly enjoyed) the original run at the Lortel back in 2017 but didn't feel the need to revisit this play, but this cast has totally changed my mind!

SPRING AWAKENING at Studio Seaview (Off-Broadway)

Jun 10, 2026 — 11:50:43 AM

Kind of hope the [title of show] rumors are true so I can see that, Spring Awakening, and In the Heights all in the same weekend and pretend it's 2008 all over again.

Spring Awakening Revival @ Studio Seaview???

May 31, 2026 — 3:26:40 PM

If I had a dollar for every time this person said there was going to be a Spring Awakening revival coming to NYC, I could probably produce my own at this point.

& JULIET To Close On Broadway August 9, 2026

Apr 1, 2026 — 10:01:55 AM

Yeah, I can't tell if this is an April Fool's joke or not but, either way, this post is kind of in poor taste. It's not uncommon for companies to be informed of closings at meetings that happen shortly before their half hour call, with the official press release often going out minutes after. In an attempt to scoop this announcement, you've now run the risk of having cast/crew members learning they're losing their jobs by reading about it on a message board, rather than through the official ch...

New Merrily Pro-Shot reviews

Dec 9, 2025 — 9:31:56 PM

I adore this show and adored this production, so I was excited to catch this today. While I'm firmly in the boat that the editing and camera work was largely disappointing, I still thought the performances (which made this production special) shined through. Groff and Radcliffe were the MVPs, in my eyes, and the chemistry between the three leads is as palpable on screen as it was in the theatre. I remember not being too fond of Krystal Joy Brown's Gussie at NYTW but found that her performance...

LITTLE BEAR RIDGE ROAD Previews

Oct 7, 2025 — 10:52:16 PM

I'm a huge Samuel D. Hunter fan so I'm likely biased, but I thought this was phenomenal. A top-tier play from him, both funny and heartbreaking, anchored by a knockout performance from Laurie Metcalf. So glad this has found a home on Broadway, and so grateful I got to experience it tonight.

Oratorio for Living Things returns at Signature

Oct 1, 2025 — 6:34:37 PM

I was excited to get the chance to see this last night after missing it's earlier run, and I'm glad I did. It's certainly different from what I'm used to (more theatrical music than musical theatre), but I enjoyed it. ColorTheHours is right about feeling the music as much as you hear it; there was one moment where I could feel the sound vibrating through my body so thoroughly, it truly felt reminiscent of the religious experience Christian intended. It reminded me of what a unique and distinc...

THE LAST BIMBO OF THE APOCALYPSE

May 16, 2025 — 9:01:36 AM

I saw this a few nights ago and agree with what Jordan says - I think my expectations were so lowered going in that I ended up being pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It certainly isn't the greatest thing to hit the stage, but it was an entertaining 90 minutes with some superb vocals and a score that I thought captured the early 2000s pop sound pretty well. I don't necessarily seeing it having a life beyond this production, but I'd definitely give a cast recording a listen should...

Scott Rudin returns:

Mar 28, 2025 — 10:51:35 AM

Kad said: "Call_me_jorge said: "I’m just surprised another producer doesn’t/hasn’t filled the void Rudin left. Tom Kirdahy has come close."Greg Nobile/Seaview is the closest analog in terms of what they’re producing and how, and likely wouldn’t exist without Rudin serving as a model."Interestingly, the following statement from Rudin in the NYT profile felt pointedly aimed at Nobile/Seaview, although maybe I'm just reading too much into it:“'I think the economics of Broadway have gotten toughe...

Additionally, 25% of tickets will be made available for purchase on the day of each performance through a digital lottery and in-person at the box office, priced at $35...

SMASH Previews

Full cast was on tonight, including Nielsen, who I found to be one of the bright spots of the evening.

Gavin Creel's WALK ON THROUGH at MCC Theater

Nov 30, 2023 — 9:12:23 AM

Saw this last night and loved, loved, loved it. Would happily see it 10 more times if I could. Fingers crossed that there's an album, as I'd love to listen to these songs again and again.

JAJA'S AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING Previews

Sep 27, 2023 — 8:55:17 PM

I was able to catch this this afternoon and would like to echo the praise here. Between School Girls, Nollywood Dreams, and now Jaja's African Hair Braiding, Jocelyn Bioh is officially on my list of "playwrights whose work I'll buy tickets to as soon as it's announced."This features tremendous work all around - writing, directing, acting, design. I'll gladly join kwoc91 in that Tony campaign for Zenzi Williams, who I thought was sensational. The entire play felt so lived in, and I could have ...
