i just wrapped up a trip to the city! I saw six shows in fives days. Here are my thoughts on each...
Aladdin (03/11/15 8pm) - I went into this expecting a fun splashy show, and that is exactly what I got. Donald Jones, Jr. was on for the Genie and he was great. Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed were good, but not great. That's kind of how I felt about the whole show though - good, but not great. The book is pretty thin and messy, and it is chock full of one cringeworthy joke after another. That being said, I still had a fun time, but it's definitely not something I would see again.
On The Town (03/12/15 7pm) - I LOVED everything about this show. The dancing is just jaw dropping. The entire cast is just great. I had a smile on my face from the second the Star Spangled Banner started, and it stayed on my face all the way to curtain call. This show is pure joy. The 28 piece orchestra is astounding. I thought that the sets and projections were great! It was like looking at New York City through a candy color lensed kaleidoscope. I really hope this does well come Tony nominations, because it deserves several nods.
On the Twentieth Century (03/13/15 8pm) - This was a perfect production of a show that I personally just did not really care for. I just was not taken with the score and the story. That being said, everything about this production is top notch. The sets and costumes are absolutely stunning, Kristin Chenoweth, Peter Gallagher, and Andy Karl are all really good in this. I could easily see Andy Karl winning a Tony for his performance. He is just hilarious.
The King and I (03/14/15 8PM) - This production is majestic and grand in every way without ever being over the top. I saw the third preview, and it is clear that this needs some tightening (the show ran three hours and ten minutes!), and the King's diction is a major problem. He was impossible to understand most of the show. Kelli O'Hara is delightful as always and just owns that stage. I would love to go back again after opening night and see it again as I can only imagine that this will get better and better.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (03/15/15 3pm) - I definitely enjoyed this play, but I can't say that I love this as much as everyone else on here does. Alex Sharp is absolutely incredible and carries the show. The set was amazing and I LOVED how the did the train station scenes. I was not a huge fan of the original novel, which probably explains why I wasn't too taken with the play. That being said, I am still very glad I saw this. Alex Sharp's performance alone was worth the price of the ticket.
Finding Neverland (0315/15 7pm) - I went into this with pretty low expectations, and I walked out blown away. This was by far my favorite show of the trip. Matthew Morrison and Laura Michelle Kelly are giving terrific performances. The set, costumes, and lighting are breathtaking. There was not one song that I disliked in the score. I adored everything about this show, and I can not recommend it enough. I was moved to tears by the end of the evening.
Overall, it was a great trip, and I am glad I got to see so many great shows and performances!

It was a great trip indeed! I'm sad to be back home, but I am moving to the city this summer, so at least I have to look forward to!

They are into for a huge treat with both shows. Tell them to bring their tissues to Finding Neverland!

Thanks. They needed tissues at the end when they saw the movie so I guess this will be the same ending.
