Well, I went last night with my friend, and we were in Row EE Center Orch, and it was a great view. She was frightened by the monkeys because she has a phobia of people in costumes where you can't see their face, but it was all good. Anyway, Idina did a great job. She had maybe two moments where her voice was a little off, but her "No Good Deed" performance was her best I've ever seen, so that was good. Jennifer Laura Thompson did a great job also. But I still think Kristin was a lot better, probably because she had more time to rehearse the part, but also I kind of saw Kristin as a more demanding stage presence. And she had great comic timing. But Jennifer was still awesome.

Joey McIntyre surprised me by actually doing a good job in the first act. I was really pissed off though in the second act because "As Long As You're Mine" was sung just plain awful. His and Idina's voice didn't match together at all. It was like one voice was high, one was low, and it was a horrible thing to hear. Idina sang it the way she normally does, but he was singing it in such a low tone that couldn't sound well with her tone. I wonder if it sounds like that at every performance? I was disappointed because that's one of my favorite songs from the show.

George Hearn did a good job. Now the thing is I never really expected much from that character because the Wizard just doesn't have that much to work with. I didn't even care much for it when Joel Grey played it. But when I saw Sean McCourt play the character last time, it was the first time I enjoyed the Wizard character and found him more interesting. He was great in the role. But George does a good job also, except I missed the dancing during "Wonderful". I mean he does a little, but not as much as there usually is.

So anyway after the show, it was my first time running to the stage door because I was determined to get autographs, and I ran ahead of my friend because she was just going to wait away from the crowd for me. I got to the front right by the door, but after an hour, they said Idina left which really disappointed me. But I did still get Jennifer's, Joey's, Christopher Fitzgerald and Derrick Williams' autographs. I actually saw Derrick come out and was the only person who asked him for his autograph, and I just said "oh I've seen you play Fiyero, you did a good job." Someone was like "who is that?", and I just told them he's the understudy for Fiyero. With Christopher Fitzgerald, it was so funny because my friend actually saw him passing her, and tapped him and went "hey", and he was like "what?" And she told him I was trying to get autographs, and asked him if he was going to go by the crowd? He was all hesitant, like "eh I don't know." So she asked him to go to a tall blond by the end by the front of the crowd (me) to sign my poster. He ended up coming down out of nowhere except I think he thought I was another girl because he wasn't coming near me, and then my friend came by me, and she was like "hey!", and he came, and I was like "yeah I was trying to get your autograph", and he was like "oh I didn't know it was you, you got to be louder" or something like that in a joking tone. He was really nice. After he left, I heard someone behind me go "hey he never usually comes down and signs autographs", so I thought that was cool. Jennifer seemed really nice. Joey seemed to have this attitude like he was doing everyone a favor by giving autographs, but whatever. It was a good night though. Updated On: 8/20/04 at 08:27 PM

Sounds like a great time. Sorry to hear about Joey.
Don't you just hate stunt casting.

yea joey acted the same way when i went....and we waited in the rain for an hour and a half and finally idina decided to come out...she said ONCE she came out..."snap away now, im not stopping to pose for pictures tonight..." so i was a little bummed...but when she finally made it down to where myfriends and i were i was like, "we drove all the way from north carolina to see you, can we please just get one photo with you..." (which is true) and she looked at me and said, "you better hury or all these ppl behind you are going to trample us" and gave me a wink.... to me idina is someone who is very straight forward, and like, when she is serious she is SERIOUS....and probably a bitch to a lot of ppl, but you know deep down shes got a great heart....shes just amazing and i love that girl! HAHAHA.....

hope i didnt bore you with my story! http://photobucket.com/albums/v400/defyingravity/ to see the photo!

Really? I thought I've heard she's so nice. But I don't think it'd be surprising if any cast members could be nasty some nights. I mean, it's one thing if they're snotty and act high and mighty, but I realize that they are people and will have bad moods some days just like I do. When I'm in a nasty mood, I'm not the nicest person either.

But they are doing you a favor by signing autographs.

Yeah they are, that's why I wouldn't be surprised if they could act grumpy because I'm sure they are tired when they do that, but at least they're trying if they're really not in the mood.

Oh, and I was so happy to see Chris as Boq again! I saw Randy Harrison last time, and he was good in the part, but I liked Chris better. He plays it a little differently. Updated On: 8/20/04 at 10:11 PM

Thanks for the review! :) It's too bad you couldn't get to meet Idina, I ran into the same thing. But hey, they're people too.

"But they are doing you a favor by signing autographs."

Regarding what I said about Joey, there was just some attitude about him that didn't make me crazy about him, but it was nice of him to sign my poster. I was such a dork with my poster. Why the hell didn't I just have them sign my playbill?

I'm late posting this I know, but I was also at this show and I agree with just about everything that's been posted. JLT is getting REALLY good in that role, and Idina was amazing on Wednesday night. Joey was irking me during "As Long as You're Mine" - it just seems like he has no idea how to sing that song. As far as the stage door line goes - I'm glad you got your pictures. I know that a lot of performers are drained after Wednesday performances. My favorite comment overheard in line that night? "I'm not a freaking actor! I'm carrying a belt-sander" (exiting tech to fans in line)

Whoever gave the pictures, you really shouldn't be taking them during the show. It just isn't right. It's almost like stealing from the show. Boo. Don't do that. Ok, I'm done.

There is nothing I would like to do more than act.

I wouldn't be too chipper if I had to wash all that green make-up off and then go outside for a photo-op.
