re: TxTwoStep's comment:

That's my problem with most productions of LSOH. They act like it's just as frilly and silly as Grease. I DO think of it as a much deeper show. =)

Soda Pop!

She could'nt sell a no pest strip..

Well, maybe she could;

"Hi, I'm "Little Shop's" Ellen Greene and Raid and I have joined together to come up with the "Ellen Roach Motel". This darling invention plays little sound bites of me doing the lisp and singing really node ridden high notes. In 10 independent studies, the "Ellen Roach Motel" was proven to rid a house of roaches with 24 hours".

I'm jokin Al Dente! Calm down!

#29a hit?

Will LSOH be a hit if Brantley pans it or praises the show but trashes Butler and Foster? I think it's a hit in previews at discounted prices. But will it be as big a hit at $100?

I think the high note was added for Sills because without it, I bet they wouldn't have gotten him. He has a healthy star ego and I'm sure he wanted his own big moment.

Benzy-

It's probably more constructive to just praise the poster about his review and leave off a reference to someone's you didn't
approve of... All you are doing is instigating a retort..

Just some friendly advice...

AHA!!...jrb hits the nail on the head, the problem with at least 85% of LSOH productions is that they play it for laughs, and voiceanth one of the reason Ellen Greene is so loved in the role is that way back when at the Orpheum she broke hearts in playing it REAL....something that isn't happening at the moment on Broadway....my favorite moment in the show is when Seymour "agrees" with AudreyII and begins his road to ruin, with Hunter it goes nowhere...

All this talk about LSOH is making me too sad, it's a perfect example of the currrent state of Broadway, same old faces doing all the roles, and since it's all about grosses it's not gonna change, and I know because I'm part of the problem(my job)..so I'm not going to speak about the show again until it opens(the wonderful post that started this thread says it all beautifully) I'll keep my memory of the subtle and moving production I saw in AC....
