re: N2N West End?

I don't think everyone who stars in the musical ,HAS to have had/or still suffers from bipolar?

re: N2N West End?

No, you don't have to suffer from Bipolar to star in any show, but Next to Normal is about Bipolar, my argument is that having leads that have suffered from this terrible condition, they might give bring something to the table a bit special, I could be completely wrong though.

Alice Ripley does not suffer from Bipolar and she is terrific.

re: N2N West End?

True, it would be interesting to see what a sufferer would bring to the role, and how they would interpret it.

and yes, Alice Ripley is amazing.

re: N2N West End?

I bow to your superior knowledge, Phantom! lol I had no idea that the three of them were bipolar (shows I don't delve much into the lives of the stars! - and now I can see why Scripps seemed so annoyed by my quip - there was nothing insidious intended in my comment.) I didn't realise the subtlety of your casting! So I take back all I said!

One of the major reasons I love N2N so much is the fact that it has the courage to deal with mental illness in such a sensitive yet powerful way. The depth of subtext in Yorkey's lyrics is mind blowing - so sorry I failed to pick up on the sub-text in your clever casting!

re: N2N West End?

Don't think your comments would of offended anyone, that's why I repeated my marvelous casting notion........as I don't think everyone understood why I selected these people. Bipolar is a awful illness, suffers go through a raw deal, have not suffered this myself, but have suffered depression, my aunt suffers from 'bipolar'. Please look at the link I posted earlier it provides a who's who's on famous people who suffer from bipolar.

In the meantime I have been listening to Next to Normal, which is superb, it is a recording that needs to be listened to, as I, and many other fans do not pick everything up, when they see the show.

Still hoping Next to Normal will cross the Atlantic.

re: N2N West End?

I wasn't annoyed Bob - I was teasing you. None of the regulars on the West End board annoy me.

Often Fry is interesting and sometimes he's irritating-but-in-a-good-way. That's why I think his contribution to society is useful even if I don't always personally appreciate it.

re: N2N West End?

Any further news on a potential transfer?

It's the one show I'm gutted I didn't see while in NYC this Summer and I doubt I'll get back over in the near future.

I do think a few months at the National ala August: Osage County would be a massive success.

re: N2N West End?

N2N, would sit beautifully in the West End, so I would welcome this show making the crossing the Atlantic.

Heard nothing about this coming over, Producers might be wary with what happened with Drowsy and Spring Awakening, however on a plus side this show would be cheaper than the 2 mentioned failures to produce.

re: N2N West End?

I would LOVE to see N2N transfer to London with Alice Ripley AND Aaron Tveit! Both are just too delicious to miss out!
I think it'll be quite successful for a limited run in the Lyttleton @ the NT, esp with the promotions from NT, it can work. And somehow I think it might look kinda good with the Young Vic space.
If it's going to be a whole new staging/production, I think either Lyric Hammersmith or Donmar will do a very good job!
This might sound crazy...but after watching some clips and listening to the soundtrack, I kinda wanna see Ruthie Henshall or Sally Ann Triplett as Dianne... IF Alice can't transfer ~ and also... even though he's not much of an actor OR too great a singer... but I think Ben James Ellis looks the role of Gabe alot! (don't kill me for this suggestion!)

re: N2N West End?

I very highly doubt that Aaron Tveit would come over - even hoping for Alice Ripley is stretching it.

If the Broadway production doesn't transfer here after it closes, hopefully Donmar or Menier will put on their own production in a few years (like Donmar's Parade) and cast Linzi Hateley as Diana - she would be totally fierce!

re: N2N West End?

This is very much on the cards.

Either the National or the Donmar from what I hear, the Donmar want to recast and the National want to do a straight transfer with its leading lady so it looks like it may well be the National

re: N2N West End?

Can you say where you've heard this from Princeton?

I would love for it to be at the national, god knows how many times I would go and see it (especially if Alice Ripley was in the cast). I might even become... dare I say it... a "fanboy" haha, especially at the price of the NT dayseats.

I was listening to the CD the other day and it just kills me a little to think this fantastic show might never transfer to London.
