g.d.e.l.g.i., I love the idea of a Jesus who doesn't appear how the public thinks Jesus looks like (let's be real, he probably did not look like how we think of him to look), but Bruno Mars isn't black; he's Filipino/Puerto Rican.

Ah, I see. I wasn't aware of his background; my mistake!
Do we know anything else about this? Casting rumors? A creative team? With NBC's last two announced live ventures being "postponed" (read:. Canceled ), will this even happen? Considering how they rarely seem to even be able to find relative unknowns to sing the score in big stage productions, is there any hope they can even cast Jesus or Judas?

Well J Lo sang a snippet of Lovely to be a Wonan from Bye Bye Birdie on Instagram and I think I'm going to skip Jesus Christ Superstar

I vote Euan Morton for Jesus but he is probably not famous enough.
Lambert or Levine would make a pretty good Jesus (as long as you cover ALevine's tattoos)
I think a Raul Esparza "Judas" would singe the scenery...
Cooper as Herod may be alright but you don't want to go borderline camp...
and to complete the perfect casting....Rachel Bay Jones as MM...but that will never happen; but we can dream...
Well, he already managed to do it 21 years ago without veering too heavily into camp:
So I think we're safe on that bet.
