re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED

Wow. Great News! D'Amboise is a natural for Cassie and Beresse should be fine, I'm guessing (I love his dancing, but I've never seen him really act before, though he was fine in Piazza and Kiss Me Kate).

I got more confident in picturing the reality that will soon come to be of this production. I have never seen it, yet thrived on the cd for so long that I just can't wait any longer. After hearing these names-*dies like CJR*

Oh wow Charlotte will be fantastic! Gets the lead she deserved in Sweet Charity. I'm really excited to hear the rest of the cast!

Wait a minute...Zach's the director right? Didn't people say in the original show as opposed to the movie that you only heard his voice and never saw him? Does that mean that will change for the revival? Or am I getting things mixed up...very possible.

re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED

If i am not mistaken you dont see Zach onstage much after the opening scene because he sits at the back of the house as if there was no audience in between he and the auditionees

re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED

You see Zach on stage in the opening audition scene (he demonstrates a couple of particularly difficult steps for a few of the dancers as the company is singing "I Hope I Get It"), he comes up on stage to comfort Paul after his monologue (roughly halfway through the show) and he dances with the company during the finale ("One"). Otherwise, he's just a voice on the loud speaker. It's mainly an acting role, though whoever plays it has to be able to dance convincingly well in those brief moments (Robert Lupone -- Patti's brother who got a Tony nod and went on to be a fine dramatic actor and now runs MCC which produced FROZEN a few years ago -- created the role in the OBC).

Berresse is way overqualified for the very limited dancing demands of the role. He must have given a terrific acting audition the land the part.

re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED

Eh, although I love D'Amboise, I think the role just doesn't warrant an award. It doesn't have enough meat to compete with the other roles that a leading actress would be nominated for. I, personally, think that there should be no leading roles in Chorus Line, all should be considered featured.

re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED

I suppose there's a possibility they'd put D'Amboise in the featured category. I mean, until Music and the Mirror, which is about two thirds of the way through the show, Cassie really doesn't have any more to do than anyone else onstage.

re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED

Yeah, I realize that she and Zach are the love story of the show, but the show isn't about them. It's about the DANCERS, the group.

re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED

didn't Donna McKechnie win best actress in the mid 70's for the role of cassie? D'Amboise will be top billing so i bet she will be up for lead.

I'm surprised we've gotten this far down the thread without anyone asking for a link to the article(s) announcing this?

Zach also plays a confrontational scene onstage with Cassie during the sequence when the company is learning One.
