Posted: 1/27/06 at 6:51pmI'm in love with this casting. And, to add to the age thing, Charlotte may be 42 when the show begins, but she hardly looks it. She can EASILY pass for 32-35. Such a great role for her. I'm intrigued by Michael Berresse. Apparently, due to this news, he must be a wonderful actor.

Charlotte deserves a Tony so much after she was ROBBED of Sweet Charity, she is so talented, and I always feel so bad how they just kinda throw her around in Chicago, I am so happy for her, also she is so nice at the stage door. Quick story, I was once walking in Times Square with my two totally dance geek friends. So we saw her and went up to her to say how much she means to us. So my friend was "I have seen your CBS Me, and my baby video (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/10/03/earlyshow/leisure/music/main524253.shtml) so many times I can do the entire choreography, and then my friend did it right there. So Charlotte was like, you messed up this step, and was like teaching my friend it. It was so cool.

"It's true that a few people in the cast were upset by McKechnie being treated differently from the rest of the ensemble, but the flip side of that is that my moving her out of the Featured category it gave Kelly Bishop a chance to win her only Tony. There's no way she'd have beaten McKechnie had they had to compete against each other. I hope they stick to these categorizations, so that whoever playing Sheila, Diana, Val etc.... will have a better shot at an award."
I totally have to disagree, Bishop is way better and way more talented than McKechnie.

Posted: 1/27/06 at 8:23pmPemily, I wasn't born till five years after McKechnie and Bishop were in this show so I obviously can't talk from first person point of view. However, my dad saw the original cast on Broadway and I've read a lot about this show; my dad tells me that McKechnie was not only a very well-respected dancer but that when she did "The Music and the Mirror" the audience was astonished, and McKechnie was immediately catapulted to Broadway Star status. And the Tony awards are a lot about who gave a star-turn, McKechnie would have won for sure. I often wonder why Priscilla Lopez didn't win though, she had two major numbers, oh well.

And one of my friends is playing Maggie! Her name is Mara Davi. (We did a show together about 2 years ago...) I already have a whoo-hoo! sort of thread going on about it over on the off-topic board. =)

Posted: 1/28/06 at 12:16amI am so excited to see Michael Berresse. He was amazing in Kiss Me Kate, which I saw in London. He was also very nice at the stage door. When I saw he was cast I was hoping that it was as one of the dancers since he is an AMAZING dancer. But I'll take him as Zach, no problem. Heck, I'll take him any way I can get him!

Found out today that the amazing Tyler Hanes was cast in a leading role in the show! Tyler graduated from my high school a few years ago and is amazing. Every time I get to go take class with him...he's just fabulous! He has mainly done ensemble in some shows...most recently Sweet Charity...but this is his first leading role. Not sure who he's playing, but it's a leading role supposedly! As well as 2 other graduates from my school were up for roles as well, but one didn't make it (she was 1 of 3 girls up for the part) and the other one is still waiting on news. Very exciting news for my h.s. I'm very extremely for them, can't wait to see the show!!

I would like to second the motion on finding out who the other 2 of the 3 up for Cassie were!?!?!
Also, on one of the articles (Broadway.com or BroadwayWorld.com) Bob Avian said that the show was 80% cast. Who are the rest?!?!?!!?
I had a post about people's dream casting for this revival and Michael Beresse (the BEST Billy Flynn I ever saw EVER) was on my list. He isn't just an amazing dancer (and HOT), he's an amazing actor as well.

Fosse--
I know Zach gets to dance a bit, but Michael is so good that I wish he was one of the dancers so that I can see him dance A LOT....

I can't wait to hear the full cast.
Regarding other performers who were up for Cassie.
I believe I heard a while ago a certain latin actress who most recently was replaced out of town in a certain show with tons of out of town and backstage drama was up for the role. I don't want to spell it out for certain reasons, but that description should help.

Posted: 1/28/06 at 10:16pmNatascia Diaz isn't too old for Diana Morales. I wonder if this is a possibility (although she has that Jacques Brel revival coming up).

Does this mean that Mara Davi is getting her Equity card??? I saw her on the tour of 42nd. Street Thanksgiving 2004 and I saw her in White Christmas 2 months ago and I think she is really talented. I can't believe she got to Broadway already.
Tyler Hanes.....actually I have seen him in quite a few shows. He's playing Fender in Hairspray now. I wonder if he would be Paul? Maybe Mike? He was just in Sweet Charity choreographed by Wayne Cilento (the original Mike). I could see him doing that.
I am estatic about Charlotte and Michael being cast, especially Charlotte. She is absolutely perfect for the role and she deserves it. She is such a sweet person who deserves a role written for her. Do you think Terrence Mann could play Larry? For at least a limited run? That would be so awesome.
#97re: NEW CHORUS LINE LEADS ANNOUNCED
Posted: 1/28/06 at 10:55pmIt is Natascia Diaz. She was replaced in the out of town "Sweet Charity" tryout by Janine Lamana.

Posted: 1/28/06 at 11:19pmDoes Zach really sit in the house? Or does he do the voice from offstage?

Posted: 1/28/06 at 11:51pmI'm almost possitive that Tyler Hanes got the role of Larry. I'm so excited!
