I searched and couldn't find a topic on this.
I was looking for Grey Gardens on IMDB, and a very interesting thing came up. A film version of Grey Gardens scheduled for 2007 with Drew Barrymore as Little' Edith Bouvier Beale and Jessica Lange as 'Big' Edith Bouvier Beale . It will be written and directed by Michael Sucsy.
Has anyone heard of this?

Posted: 10/28/06 at 1:58amI have heard this was in development. I assume it will cover more of the early years. I can't imagine Lange playing Big Edie from the doc, and Barrymore is much too young to play Little Edie from the same period. I am skeptical, to say the least.

Yeah, this news is quite old. What's on IMDB has been on there for quite some time now and no further info has turned-up. This project has been simmering for quite some time now.
Hopefully the upcoming DVD re-release of the original documentary plus the release of the NEW documentary (plus the Broadway musical) will kick it back into gear.
Here's hopin'.

I interviewed Malcolm Gets last week, who plays Big Edie's accompanist, George "Gould" Strong in the new film of Grey Gardens. They have finished filming and he said he thought it would be released in the Fall.
He also talked about his upcoming role in Sex and the City: The Movie, as well as being an out gay actor despite the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that exists in Hollywood.
He's a totally charming, disarming, funny, smart (and cute) guy.
