Someone in the Disney thread has claimed that there are plans (and "internal readings") to produce NEWSIES for the Broadway stage?
Please provide accurate information and details as to where you have gathered this.
Universal Pictures and GE who, at one point, wanted to venture onto the stage with a Newsies musical were denied the ability to buy the rights from Disney because Disney was "absolutely against" a stage version of Newsies and NEVER wanted to see it on stage. As of 2007, they had no intentions of creating a Newsies musical.

Where is the proof that this is actually happening and that Disney is completely going against their word only a year later???

I am SO happy though. Thank you so much for pointing this out.
Disney must have finally changed their attitude about this.
A year ago, DT was completely against the idea. Someone must have come on board to really push it and convince them!!

Thank god, that it's NOT coming to b'way.
Gee....just can't imagine that Disney would put this together unless it was just for the money.

Why can't you put two and two together?
NBC Universal wanted to buy the Newsies "rights" from Disney... they wanted to make it a musical starting back in 2000.
That's why NBC Universal is commenting on Disney affairs.
