I didn't know if anyone would be interested, but since the show has a big following over here, I decided to share this promo video of the Brazilian Production of NEXT TO NORMAL. The show started previews yesterday.

I was quite excited for this because producers over here don't go very often with "darker" shows like N2N (with a few exceptions), unless they are some big classic musical. I'm glad that now that the musical theater "industry" is huge over here, they decided to go for smaller and intimate productions.

The only upsetting thing for me is that the original actress playing Diana, who I personally love, left the show during rehearsals to do Grey Gardens (yey for that!). So i'm not sure about the new actress that stepped in. I hope she's good!

It's playing in Rio for now and will move to Sao Paulo (our most productive theater city) later this year/early 2013.

I don't live in Rio so I haven't seen it yet. I'll probably go there next month to see it!

Some pictures of the set.

They are playing a quite small theatre in Rio right now (509 seats). I wonder what would chance in the set when move to a new house in Sao Paulo (which would probably be bigger).

I like how the kept some aspects of the original set, but still made some chances for it to look more like a Brazilian middle-class house... specially with the design of the stairs.

their Natalie looks like she's in her late 30s. plus it looks as though they've added a few "ensemble" members to their cast.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Yes, they actually did the reverse of what happened in the Broadway show. They cast a teenage Gabe and a Natalie on her late 20's haha

I'm curious as well about the people in the "Wish I Were Here" sequence in the preview. I'm guessing those are the understudies and they are probably only used in that number as doctors...
