OK, I'm on another continent and won't be seeing this Encores! presentation. So who has been and what are your thoughts on the show/performances. I've seen the other post on those that went to the dress run...but now that it has opened?
<< Cyd Charisse 'Take A Little One Step' NO, NO, NANETTE Australia 1972.
I ended up going last night after all. It was cute.
Here are some comments from the Dress Rehearsal.
No, No, Nanette Thoughts
Tonight is the ONLY night I can try to see NO NO NANETTE (edited: I'm going!)
I DON'T want to miss this (hello! Michael, Mara and Beth!)
TO ANYONE WHO'S SEEN IT ALREADY: HOW WAS THE SHOW?

I saw it last night and loved it! So much fun...you can't help but tap your way out of the theatre and down the street.
Don't miss this Eug!
THANKS TO THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS, I'M GOING TONIGHT!
YAY!!! I can't wait for your thoughts. It's a really stupid (yet funny and silly) book with an amazing score! The overture alone is worth the price of admission.
Enjoy!
I would go see it just to watch Mara Davi perform again. Unfortunately I don't have any time this week so I won't make it.

the vacuum cleaner gets my vote for best appliance in a featured role...
I wouldn't say that "No, No, Nanette" has a stupid book! It has an innocent book, a charming book, a book from it's era (although re-written by Burt Shevelove in the '70's). I wouldn't hesitate to say a silly book. But, it's silly in the way that cotton-candy is silly. There is no "nutrition" there, just enjoyment.
Now, I would say that "Crazy For You" has a stupid book.
I just got home from seeing it, and I absolutely adored it, the cast was just perfect (just didnt like Jimmy) Michael Beresse was out of the world, without a doubt the greatest performance I have seen him in to date.
See this if you can, just do it!
INCREDIBLE! JUST INCREDIBLE!
Encores outdid itself!!!
seeing it tonight!
Can't wait to Be Happy!

Have fun. I wish I could see it too. Such a great cast. Maybe someone out here will put on the show someday soon. They can always come out here and do an encore performance if they want to.
They were taping it for Lincoln Center's Archives last night, so you might get to see it.

I was at today's matinee and absolutely adored it! I wanted to skip home! A glorious production! Sandy Duncan and Beth Leavel were especially wonderful. Sandy Duncan's beautiful, beaming smile at the curtain call warmed my heart! She looked so happy! This show should move to Broadway!
The Ruby Keeler Happy Tap (from the 1971 Tony Awards) is now on bluegobo.com. Heaven!
alterego - If today was any indication, then it has been selling very well.
Yeah it was packed today. Very entertaining production.
Public service announcement: if you have a choice to sit far left or far right, sit far right--much more stuff happens upstage left than upstage right (as I learned the hard way!). I would definitely suggest the front side gallery for the best $10 student seats.
