Part of the problem I think, is that no matter what she does, 'Bernadette' still shines through. And the Bernadette sweetness doesn't work on a battle-axe like Rose. Even when her take on the role is to use her 'womanly charms' to get her way.

i still think Marissa will possibly take it.

Why not "Everything's Coming Up Roses"?

Part of my early post re: Rose's Turn dealt with the fact that the number -- taken out of the context of the show -- probably won't have much affect on the TV audience. Bernedette Peters and the show's producers may want to show off what she can do with that number to the theatre community, but Everything's Coming Up Roses is a number that WILL work out of context and would be an equally good vehicle to showcase her interpretation of the role.
