I went to the Barrymore box office a few hours ago to ask about whether there is a rush policy for NOVEMBER, and the box office employee told me that there is NOT.
The cheapest ticket is $46.50 (Rear Mezzanine Rows F-G).
All of the discount codes are for $75.00 tickets (normally $99.50).
So that's the deal, for those who wanted to know.
I was also told that there is NO STANDING ROOM.
I asked at the box office a few days before previews began and was told to "check after the holidays". So maybe in a few weeks there will be something available. Thanks for the update.
Ahh, good point.
That would be wonderful.
I'm going to hold off then on spending the $75 until after the holidays.
I want to see it before it opens, though. I'll see what they say after the first week of January.
On a whim last week I put that code in to see what would come up for last Saturday's matinee and front row center on the aisle popped up, so I decided to splurge on it. I had fun, but felt like so much of it could have been conceivably been culled from Lewis Black's standup act from the past 18 months. I'll probably go again if they establish some sort of rush policy because I read on ATC that quite a lot of the play has been altered during this past week of previews. This included a change in the placement of the intermission and a new scene that has been added to the end. I'd go again just to see how these changes play out.

+...come Jan or Feb, they'll be begging you to buy cheaper tix. The "super discount season" - after the tourists go home. The winter is dead. Wait.
Once it pops up on TDF, I will order it.

Asked last night at the box office, and got a definitive answer that mid-January they will begin rush. The show is selling well, but is always up on TKTS, even during this busy week between Christmas and New Year's.

Don't do it! This show is really not good, and I was grateful that I only spent about $30 on my TDF ticket, honestly!

i really enjoyed it!
it wasnt deep with emotion (which i kind of want for the price of a theater ticket) *BUT* it *IS* hilarious!
one of the best things is there is a running gag about extraordinary renditioning...so they must feel that the general public is aware enough to get jokes about it!
& dang, Laurie Metcalf is BUFF!! that woman's got MUSCLES!

i also wanted to say:
it seemed more like a very high quality pilot for an adult sitcom than a theatrical experience.
(& i dont mean that as a criticism, except in light of ticket prices)
ive read that Laurie Metcalf's part has been expanded, but i wouldve liked to have seen more of her! She doesnt get to really shine until the second act, spending the first act with the flu, jetlagged & dragged out of bed.
though if you watch her posture & "sick faces", she's a riot!
There was one thing thought that kept me laughing throughout. Near the couch there is a stack of law books, but stuck into that pile is a copy of Stephen King's "Needful Things" It was in directly in my line of sight and I thought it was an odd touch.
Any update on a possible rush policy?
BUMP. Anybody know?

I don't understand how people could be seeing this show now.
I mean it's not supposed to open untill "November" and it's Only February Someone needs a calender
lol
Thanks!
Still no rush. Keep an eye out though, because it'll pop up every so often on TDF, usually no more than a day or two before the performances they're offering. I saw it last Wednesday this way. I don't think the show is worth spending any amount of money on it, but if you've got to go that's probably your best bet.
Producers of any struggling show who don't implement a rush policy are just stupid. Especially a play.
Money is money.
Having people SEE your show creates word of mouth. Period.
Empty seats do nothing.
I think ANY producers who refuse to have a rush policy are missing a great chance to cultivate a young audience for whatever it is that they're so passionate about producing in the first place.
It's a missed opportunity and a shame.
And a double shame when the show isn't doing sell- out business anyway. As WannaBeAFoster said, empty seats do nothing. Word.
Still no rush? Anybody know anything?
nope, no rush or anything unfortunately
Thanks for the info, anyway, JKlock.
According to Telecharge.com:
Student Rush Tickets: $26.50 per ticket, on sale 2 hours prior to each performance, 1 ticket per valid student ID for those 25 and under.
Thanks, WbaF.
I wanted to see this but couldn't afford it at their prices and I was debating seeing a show tomorrow but couldn't decide which to see, so this is perfect!
