Searched for a thread on NY City Center seating but there hasn't been one created post-renovation, so:

I'm considering buying the inexpensive $35 Side Balcony (Partial View) tickets for The Maids at NY CIty Center, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever sat in those seats & how partial the view actually is?

Any info would be much appreciated!

Seats are partial view because this production uses real-time video projections. The sides of the orchestra and mezzanine are also partial view because of this. The actors are filmed and broadcast live in close up on a large screen at the back of the stage. Once I heard this, I opted out of the partial view seat options.

Thanks so much for the reply, Melissa25, that's really helpful!

If the "partial view" only means not being able to see the live projections, then I wouldn't necessarily care since $35 is by far the most cost-efficient ticket.

Also worth noting that when I saw A Bed and a Chair at City Center, I was in the PTP seats in the upper balcony, could not see the projects on the screen on stage, but the video was actually projected on the side walls of the balcony; I could look to my left and right and see what the screen was showing. Perhaps they'll do the same for this!

True Piano Mann...I was there for A Bed and a Chair too and forgot that they projected the video on the side walls of the Balcony. Hopefully they will do that again.

Can anyone clarify?: Are the seats in the mid-balcony "partial view" because you cannot see the live feed? Or will I actually be missing action on the stage from where I sit?

You won't be able to see them at all times from partial view, so it's not just the screen you'll miss. However, I think the screen/projection/whatever actually makes up for what you're missing part of the time.

I was supposed to be in G26 or 28 of the mezz but got to move 2 in...and still missed a teeny bit when they were on the couch. But I think whatever seat I theoretically had was the closest partial view seat to the non-partial view seats...so on the far end you'll definitely be missing them. However, I would say it's worth it. I mean, it's a 3-person play and it's not like you're really missing that much even if you can't see them at all times...but maybe I just have low standards (especially when considering how the much the normal tickets are).

I'd also say they go between stage right and left about evenly, so I wouldn't say one side is better than the other.
