JimnySF-- Look we can agree to disagree. I was there at like 545 for the 730 Showing. So I know what you mean by getting there early. I am not in any way shape or form saying that you guys should not or cannot be disappointed. I have never said that. All I am saying is that some of the people on this board and some in line in DC seem to have acted like the world ended since they did not get in. That is all I am saying.
And maybe, we don't know 100% sure unless we where ACTUALLY there.. They (New LIine) told them there would be two showings and then decided that there will only be one.
I guess, I try and give people the benefit of the doubt. You have to in this world or else you end up an old bitter person.

"Loitering in a crime in some cities. And when we used to work for the airlines, we would call the police if we had to give a large amount of people bad news."
NO ONE was loitering (and loitering laws are questionable at best, as they clearly violate the 1st Amendment right of assembly). Everyone there had a pass, and MOST it seems were not informed what was happening. I gather that they called the police first without telling anyone what was happening.
And, as a fun fact, everytime the police are called in to big events, we usually have to dismiss the charges because a) there was no wrong-doing or b) the police, in apprehending anyone who was doing something wrong, had violated that person's rights. So calling the police in this situation to actually do their dirty work was wrong. From what I understand, the people were practically told that their passes weren't legitimate.
Fosse76... If you want to get all politcally correct about it then I will bow out seeing as you are going to beat this dead horse to death....
But I am telling you that if the reaction about the comp tickets was the way it was and I was the theater owner, I would have called the cops to cover my own ass.
I don't want a whole bunch of pissed off New Yorkers who couldn't use their free passes.
And If you take that last contest as fact and not with my tongue firmly planted in cheek then I am sorry. But I can back up the NY thing seeing as my father in from New York and I was raised there for many years.

Politically correct? I am referring to the LAW, which some people think should be adjusted according to what they want done.
"But I am telling you that if the reaction about the comp tickets was the way it was and I was the theater owner, I would have called the cops to cover my own ass."
From what I understand, no one was being unruly. The cops were called on unsuspecting people, who were on a PUBLIC sidewalk, and told to leave. I am telling you now, if anyone had been arrested, I (or one of my colleagues) would have had to have the charges dismissed, since there was no crime. The police tend to think they can do whatever they want, and its the D.A.'s office that has to sort it out. And, I would gladly bring a harassment charge against you if enough people complained about the police presence. Yoyu'd call the police so you didn't have to break bad news to a large crowd? I can't even begin to tell you how illegal that is, but you probably don't care.
"I don't want a whole bunch of pissed off New Yorkers who couldn't use their free passes."
Well, if they are on a public sidewalk, and not doing anything illegal, you'd have no choice.
"And If you take that last contest as fact and not with my tongue firmly planted in cheek then I am sorry. But I can back up the NY thing seeing as my father in from New York and I was raised there for many years."
Well, no crime was committed, therefore the police actions were highly questionable. In fact, it probably made the situation worse, considering most people in line didn't understand what was going on until the police arrived since no one bothered to tell them. Growing up in New York is a far crime from knowing the law, so please refrain from validating your opinions based on that criteria.

I think everyone has a fair complaint, even those who went to theaters that honored a few passes. The evite tickets state quite clearly that seating is on a "first-come, first-serve basis." But that was not true. At the theaters where some evite passes were honored, it appears the typical situation was that seating was furnished on a "first-come, first-serve basis" after the theater was pretty much filled by people with different passes. Nor was seating "limited to theatre capacity." Those of us with the evites were getting seating "limited to seats not taken by people wiht black passes."
Fosse76 my dear friend. You win. You are so right about everything and are the perfect person. You have every right to be so angry about what happened. Why I think we should March on Washington.
I am so over this conversation. A little conversation with you turns into a full on... Pissinng contest.
WOW!
"A little conversation with you turns into a full on... Pissinng contest. "
You're the one who got into the theatre. Then you decided it would be a good idea to pop in every few pages on every thread on this subject and dismissivly scold the people who didn't get in.

Oh really? I explain what the law is, and suddenly I'm a know-it-all? Be glad I don't know who you are, because if I saw you so much as jay walk I'd have you arrested, just for irritating me.
