Well I just got back and I must say that I am disappointed. To start off the Overture pretty was botched. The piccalo solo didn't happen and half of the orchestra got several measures behind. Luckily it all came together by the end, but it left me not looking forward to the rest of the show. John Cullum as Voltaire, Pangloss etc...was just plain bad. It felt like he didn't really know his lines and he sang some wrong lyrics causing the Candide to cover with weird lyrics. It all just made me nervous. "Glitter and Be Gay" was good, but it felt really quiet, perhaps they were responding to a review sang it was too loud, so maybe they were overcompensating. I really enjoyed the performances of Judy Kaye and the Candide and Cunegonde. Mainly John Cullum left me leaving the show disappointed, but as long as the orchestra is able to get the Overture going strong it should still be an enjoyable evening.

I was going to go see it. When I saw it last year at the NY Phil with Kristen and Patti it was amazing....
