We start the trip by seeing Rent on Tuesday nite (my 10 year old daughter is becoming a mini-Renthead: it is the only CD she plays anymore and only movie she watches). Wednesday morning we got tickets to be part of the audience for Good Morning America (hopefully there will be a good guest). That afternoon we see Hairspray and at night we MUST meet Harry Connick after his show
(the whole trip won't mean anything unless that happens). On Thursday, we have tickets to the Tony Danza show in the afternoon and then Jersey Boys in the afternoon. Busy but fun !!

Hey Craig 238 do you you think you can keep up with a 10 year old.
Have a great time Broadway is the only way.By the way Diana Degarmo from American Idol is in Hairspray as Penny. Meet her at the stage door its super busy but she stays out till everyone gets a autograph.

Posted: 4/14/06 at 6:14pmI know we won't see the 'big' star if there happens to be one but: a) my daughter wants to be on TV with her sign saying hi to all her friends b) sometimes they do have a good musical guest (maybe we will hit it right) and c) they say you get to meet the hosts after the show so it would be kinda neat to meet Diane Saywer and the rest....

Quick recap of our trip (me/wife/10 year old daughter): RENT on Tuesday nite. Great show with the only fault being Tim Howar - though he was good, played the character a little to 'mean'. They sold signed Playbills for $20 for BCEFA - I only bought one and did not wait around to meet cast. Walked up to ThreePenny Opera and was able to catch Jim Dale(had him sign my Barnum album which already had Glenn Close on it/Alan Cumming-just my daughter's autograph book and a picture with her/Cindy Lauper - a CD cover. All were nice. Got up early Wednesday morning for Good Morning America. Their guest was Chris Brown (a 16 year old hip hop artist) which brought out a LOT of screaming girls. We were inside and though it is fun to be at a live TV show, it was a LONG morning. We taped the show and watched it last nite and we were all on a few times so we did get our 15 seconds of fame. We were also able to get Diane Saywer to sign a few magazines and Robin Roberts her basketball book. We went back to the hotel for a few quick winks and then went to HAIRSPRAY. We were able to get Tevin Campbell before the show (he peeked his head out the stage door and I nabbed him !!) on a few CD covers and he took a picture with my wife/daughter - he was very nice and my wife was VERY happy since she has always enjoyed his music. Again, another great show. Diana Degarmo was fantastic - both acting wise and singing. After the show, just caught Darlene Love (who can really belt it out) as she was RUNNING out of the theatre and got her to sign a CD cover and her book. After that, the cast slowly bantered out with most of the people waiting for Diana and she did not disappoint (my daughter got her CD cover signed so she was a happy camper). That nite we HAD to wait for Harry Connick (my wife thinks he is just AHHHHHH) and he did not disappoint either. He came out at 10:45 and signed away (we got 3 playbills and 2 CD covers signed) and chatted for about the 20 people there. Needless to say my wife was EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY HAPPY.On Thursday, we had the afternoon tickets for Tony Danza. While we were waiting to go in, Craig Ferguson came out so my daughterwas able to get him in her autograph book and we got a nice picture. The show was OK - again, you have to get there early and there is a lot of waiting around and constant clapping once the show begins (we taught ourselves how to fake clap - just like lip synching). We saw Rob Morrow, another actress whose name escapes me and they did 2 special takes for future shows with Chris Klein and Sally Fields (it was good to see her). My daughter got a Tony Danza t-shirt from the person who keeps you loose and during a break, Tony actually saw her in the stands, waved, and asked her her name. After the show, my daughter had a baseball card of him and when she went up to have him sign it, he remembered her name and made it out to her - I thought that was pretty impressive. That nite we went to JERSEY BOYS - what a great show. After it ended, the four main characters signed whatever you had for a $20 BCEFA donation so we all got our Playbills signed and I even snuck in a CD cover.
On Friday morning we went to the TODAY SHOW but it was packed and only stayed about an hour (though Matt did come pretty close to us so and we were able to get our HI MOM sign on TV). Overall a great trip. My daughter rated the shows in this order: RENT/HAIRSPRAY/JERSEY BOYS. My wife rated them JERSEY BOYS (by FAR)/RENT/HAIRSPRAY and I rated them RENT (only by a nose)/JERSEY BOYS/HAIRSPRAY. Looking forward to our next long weekend in the city already !!!
