I saw 21 shows last year, and while I don't think I'll get anywhere near that this year, I'm super excited about a few of them - namely Twilight in Manchego (which just announced its cast - Chuck Cooper! Natalie Belcon! Adam Halpin!), Wood (which I saw at NYU last winter, what a great score), Cyclone (and the Pig-Faced Lady) and Jason & Ben. A friend saw a reading of The Jerusalem Syndrome too, and said it was hilarious.
Also, first NYC concert from Pasek & Paul in 2 years!
I'd seen the PACE University production of College: The Musical last season and it really is a fun time. It's got a book you'd expect (college antics) but the songs are catchy and endearing. Should be another nice "big" break for the creators.
Bonnie & Clyde reads entertainingly.
Jerusalem Syndrome (the syndrome itself) sounds insanely original... I'm wikipedia-ing that sh*t!
Props to you, Karen, for undertaking another year helping-out and promoting the festival. Updated On: 8/5/08 at 05:17 PM
It's my favorite time of the year when the NYMF (and the Broadway Flea Market) comes around. I have seen some great shows at the past 3 NYMFs (37 different productions, including 23 last year), and look forward to this year's shows.
I have set up my most ambitious schedule yet, 26 performances(24 different productions, readings and concerts) in 9 Days:
Bedbugs!!!-Wednesday, September 17, 4:30PM About Face-Wednesday, September 17, 8:00PM The Bubble: A Musical Dot-Comedy-Thursday, September 18, 3:00PM The Road to Ruin-Thursday, September 18, 8:00 Love Jerry-Friday, September 19, 1:00PM Sophia's Fall-Friday, September 19, 4:30PM Bonnie & Clyde: A Folktale-Friday, September 19, 7:00PM College: The Musical-Friday, September 19, 10:30PM About Face-Saturday, September 20, 1:00PM Max and the Truffle Pig-Saturday, September 20, 4:30PM The Hatpin-Saturday, September 20, 9:00PM Chocolate Soup-Sunday, September 21, 6:30PM Castronauts-Sunday, September 21, 9:30PM To Paint the Earth-Monday, September 22, 8:00PM Villa Diodati-Tuesday, September 23, 1:00PM Heaven in Your Pocket-Tuesday, September 23, 4:30PM The Jerusalem Syndrome-Tuesday, September 23, 8:00PM Cyclone (and the Pig-Faced Lady)-Wednesday, September 24, 1:00PM Play It Cool-Wednesday, September 24, 4:30PM Jason & Ben-Wednesday, September 24, 8:00PM Wood-Thursday, September 25, 1:00PM Twilight in Manchego-Thursday, September 25, 8:00PM I Love You, Madam President-Friday, September 26, 1:00PM Idaho!-Friday, September 26, 5:00PM She Can’t Believe She Said That!-Friday, September 26, 8:00PM College: The Musical-Friday, September 26, 10:30PM
The ones I'm most looking forward to are The Road to Ruin (looks like a great spoof musical in the tradition of It Came From Beyond and The Brain From Planet X), About Face (because of the wonderful Barbara Walsh), and Bonnie And Clyde.

I'm seeing College twice because it fits into my schedule so well (as the only show at 10:30 PM). Who knows, I may actually like it. It's also the reason I will have two four show days in addition to numerous three show days I have scheduled.
It just happened to work out that I am seeing About Face twice, but I am glad. I can't get enough of Barbara Walsh after seeing her in A Little Night Music seven times this year. This show is in a similar vein.
I am so happy my Sunday schedule fit with the Flea Market perfectly this year. I go through all of the Autograph lines and get a lot of pictures. My current avatar picture was taken at the photo booth just minutes before a 4:30 show of Love Kills last year. Since my first Sunday show this year isn't until 6:30, I won't have to be in a mad rush.

Hey FeelingElectric, why don't you make the total go to 27 and see Midnight Madness at the Ailey. As a matter of fact, everyone should see Midnight Madness. God I hate to be a shill
I hope to see a couple shows this year. I missed last years festival cause i was broke. I really wanted to see The Boy in the Bathroom, i was pissed i missed it.
Compared to last year, my list is fairly short: (in order of how awesome I expect them to be)
Twilight in Manchego Wood Bedbugs College About Face Lines Pasek & Paul's Concert Cyclone Max & The Truffle Pig
But I'm sure I'll end up at more when the time comes around.
Has anyone been watching the ROAD TO NYMF Segments on YouTube? http://www.youtube.com/user/jamjj1 I hear they'll be on BWW shortly. Brb, gotta go watch the Idaho one. Twilight's is adorable (hey! Glory Days song!); Sophia's Fall feels stiff.
Don't forget to add the New Australian Musical " The Hatpin" on your list as well!
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

I'm getting my Wood/Twilight in Manchego ones now since I think they'll sell out (and should!) - most of the others I'll wait until I see what the buzz is.
