NYT: Plays, Musicals and Theater Festivals Worth Traveling to This Summer

Thanks for the article.  If I was on the East Coadt I would definitely try to see that production of City of Angels.

I won't have time this year to go up to Utah from Las Vegas, and will be there a week after both of the Utah Shakespeare's musicals end their runs this year.  But will keep watch on what they & Tuacahn schedule for next year.  An easy drive about 3 hours from Vegas & a totally different vibe.  Put them on your bucket list!  Especially I cannot over emphasize how gorgeous the outdoor setting is for Tuacahn in St. George, Utah.

I am going to Ontario this summer to experience the Shaw & Stratford festivals.   Will also see  Toronto's Canadian Stage's outdoor production of Twelfth Night.   Yesterday I found a discount code online for the Toronto sitdown of & Juliet, so even though I wasn't planning to I will see that as well.( all seats Tues -Thurs $50CAN with code SEEITNOW  + fees comes to $60.50CAN - makes you wonder how good business is? That's about $43US for a prime orchestra seat. I guess worst would be they close early & I get a refund)

At home I've already started on Summer theatre, seeing a delightful local production of Shaw's Arms & the Man this past weekend.   I looked it up and it has been 22 years since I last saw this play in a gorgeous production that toured Canada in 2003/2004.  I saw it twice.   This was a simpler production, but I still laughed out loud at Shaw's text.  Incompetent braggart Sergius reminds me of a current Secretary of War. But Shaw displays such faith in human goodness & treats his characters with such kindness, letting them grow & redeem themselves.  In real life some people seem simply irredeemable.
