And they say theatre is dying.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Why do u people immediately connect Nudity with Sex? It is not going to be lude or pornographic. It is literally stripping the play bare, to give the raw-est of performances and the most emotional. I'd rather see this than sime stuffy "puffy shortS" and feather hat production. COME TO LONDON!!!!!!

If you truly believe the director came up with this concept to get to "the truth" of the play, you're dreamin'.

Which is why they require actors in "excellent physical condition". Emotion has nothing to do with aesthetics.

Didn't notice the original date. So...

Did anyone actually go see this by any chance? And what was it like? Was there any merit to the production or was it actually all about the nudity and nothing else?

re: 'Naked Macbeth' coming to New York in October

By the way I saw it. Because I was curious. Reading over my old post I was right before. It was rediculous. First of all there were prob about 2 or 3 actors who could handle it. My big question was WHY ARE THEY NAKED?! It served no purpose to the script. At least it wasn't made clear and that's more important than having an idea. What's the point if no one gets it. They changed a few things. The 3 witches was 1 guy in a dance belt. It was of course all male and Duncan was the GAYEST thing I've ever seen. I'm sorry I'm all for gay actors playing straight. I do it all the time, but when you're supposed to be a tough monarch and you're walking around with a limp wrist and a lisp, something doesn't ring true abou that!

It wasn't even ALL about the nudity. It wasn't naked all the time. Only select moments were nude. It was in a room that was about the size of the Duplex cabaret space. There literally was a platform and steps. It prob sat about 50. 45 of which were taken at the top of show, about 17 of which were taken by curtain call. FOOLISH. It was a big circle and a slash. I still want my money and 3 hours back. I felt so bad for the actors. I rode next to one on the subway after the show. I heard him talking about the directors vision to some other patrons. Apparantly the cast knew it was crap. A lot of them just wanted to be doing SOMETHING. Best actors in order of greatness was Lady Macbeth and Macbeth (both of which were in their 20's).

And BTW there was no stripping the play bare. There were 1 an a half raw performances and a little bit of emotion. This wasn't art, though it tried to be.
