Just thought I'd give a mini-review on Toro's premiere performance at Feinstein's tonight (the 7th).
Toro was great, as always -- it was the first time I saw her in a cabaret show, and with her credits you'd expect her to be very serious, but quite essentially she's the opposite: very funny.
She did not sing the one song I thought she would (which was a slight disappointment, but made up entirely by the rest of her performance easily!): "Out of Sight, Out of Mind." However for you other Tale/Toro fans, she did say that the concert did occur, and the CD, and will be shown on PBS between November and mid-Decemeber, to be released right before Christmas. Several of the producers of the musical, along with Brandi Burkhardt were there.
Some of the songs she sang were: "I Dreamed a Dream," "Here I Am," "Happy," the Michael Jackson song - which she said she had intended to sing as part of the performance even without his death, and "Time Heals Everything," amongst other things.
Other highlights:
She sang the song "A Boy Like That" from WSS ... by herself!, in a very Jekyll & HYDE - Confrontation esque way.
She also sang the song "If I Could," and as a big fan of Linda Eder's I always wondered why Toro recorded it .. even before Linda did. Turns out she looked to Eder for inspiration when she saw her a few months ago, she heard the song and had to record it! (Maybe that's why she also recorded a great version of "Someone Like You" - which was unfortunately not sung this evening)
Of course, she sang a duet with BRANDI BURKHARDT; I believe she sang the song "Get Happy / Happy Days," which appears on her solo CD with Sutton Foster.
Great concert - def recommend seeing Toro in concert. Very funny, and obviously very talented!
Did she sing "You've Got Possibilities"? She sang that at the Metropolitan Room back in February

I was there tonight as well..... Natalie was wonderful as usual.... I loved her stories
especially the one about her Mother and the flowers.
What a voice.... and she is very funny, I LOVED the entire show.
I did buy her CD too!
Eris.. I don't believe so. Unless that was the number she sang with her "alter-ego" ... I remember you posting about that on another thread
.
"You've Got Possibilities" is the song she sang as her alter ego at the Metropolitan Room
Then it probably was. There were some noisy people that came in as late as that ... a bit distracting!
So yes, she did sing that..!
I'm not sure a lot of people know that song anyway. When I spoke to her after the February concert I mentioned enjoying her rendition and she was surprised that I knew the song. I'd guess she has a lot of people ask her about it.

Why did I miss this?
I thought Brandi was calling out of Mamma Mia! again .. but Natalie said that she luckily had off that night -- I'm trying to see MM! and def would love to see it when she's there!!
I will say, however, Brandi's voice sounded maybe a little sore...or she was singing lower than she usually was (more than likely)...did NOT sound as high/soprano-y as when she did Lucie .. or even Emma from Jekyll & HYDE.
Maybe she was trying to sound more Sutton Fostery to match the duet on Natalie Toro's CD. Either way, the concert sounded amazing, I wish someone reminded me!
It was well-worth the very big expenses...not only is Feinstein's beautiful venue, but she was wonderful too. (And of course the whole Brandi being there as well! - Good choice Natalie!)
I also had no idea how genuinely kind Natalie is / all the charity work she does. Good for her!!
