Despite being a fan of breaking down the riffs and Natalie in general, I can't help but not understand how she is considered as prominently as she is in the Broadway community having been in one Broadway show (as an understudy) and in a national tour (as a swing). What is attracting people to her? Also why *hasn't* she done more, with a voice like that I take it she can book anything she wants!

Btw, this is not a hate post at all. I adore Natalie, I really am just curious.

I think younger musical theater kids are drawn to her. Trust me, in the musical theater world riffing is a big thing, when, in actuality, most shows don't need anyone to riff. But it's become such a big deal, for some reason.

I do wonder why she hasn't worked more, or why she's not in Wicked or Frozen or any number of shows.

I know she does a lot of teaching. No idea if that's a side thing if not doing shows or music or a main thing.

She was the understudy for Elphaba on the second national tour for a few weeks filling in for Anne Brummel while she was on leave. Her contract was a few weeks. I’m not saying she wasn’t fired, I’ve never heard that before, but she was indeed brought on as a temporary replacement.

She has a big voice, but she can’t act at all. Every time I watch her sing it’s as if she’s unaware of what the lyrics in the song mean. Her face is just an empty expression, devoid of, well, anything.

She also travels the world as her own boss, making money and not having to pay an agent a dime! Lil white girls pay BIG money for her to teach them how to riff. She creates her own schedule and does what SHE wants. Broadway is not the end all be all, especially when you dont fit the mold. Waiting for your phone to ring, waiting to be cast, waiting for the right show is NOT the way to live. She's found her niche and her lane. I give her MAD props.

I have mutual acquaintances with her, and they don’t have wonderful things to say. “Thinks she’s Beyonce” came up once. I don’t want to be too gossipy, but hearing about interactions with her has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I agree with Lane Bryant, though. She’s made a great life with teaching and concerts, especially for someone with a lack of credits. Good for her.
