re: National Tour of Wicked

Depends on which performance you go to. I saw 4 understudies in the main roles. Only Melissa Bohon as Glinda was really in character. Elpfaba had a decent voice but no stage presence. Show was kind of flat.
For the price of the tickets I thought 4 understudies was uncalled for.

There were atleast 2 more threads about its stay in Buffalo. I'm not sure why there were so many.

Elphaba. Sorry, had to.

re: National Tour of Wicked

The tour is top notch. I think the trick is just getting to see Carmen Cusack and Katie Clark in the same performance. There seems to be some mixing and matching with the witches due to the demands of the show. I liked both Cusack and Clark better than Idina and Cheno. Carmen Cusack is an AMAZING actress and has an incredible voice. I also saw Meggie Cansler as Glinda and she was great too. I prefered Bryan West to Clifton Hall as Fiyero. I think the whole troupe is very talented, so when you go, go with an open mind and give whoever you are seeing a chance. I like this production better than Broadway.

puppet, which Elphaba did you see? You said you had 4 principals out, was Carmen one? And if so, did you see the standby (Donna) or the understudy (Meredith)?

re: National Tour of Wicked

I saw Donna Vivino. She had a good voice, but not a really powerful one. Defying Gravity was a bit underwhelming. Her acting was a bit flat. Melissa Bohon as Galinda was the real star at this performance.

re: National Tour of Wicked

Well, you certainly saw a different Donna Vivino than I saw, puppetman. And that any reviewers who saw the show when she was on saw either.

Seeing her as Elphaba was my first experience of her, and I became quite a fan. Having done my research since, I can tell you that she's known for having an extraordinarily powerful voice and major acting chops. As for no stage presence - wow. I can't even imagine that being said about her.

re: National Tour of Wicked

Does anyone know when Katie Rose Clark and Carmen Cusack are leaving? Before or after September 2009?

re: National Tour of Wicked

I am NOT "puppetman". Please do not confuse me with anyone else.

I can only express my feelings about Donna. I do not want to argue as personal preferences are just that.
