Okay .. I've patiently been checking for several hours now, waiting to see a review of Matt's last performance today.
Nothing so far .. do we have details available? Ad Libbing? Stage Door, etc.
Please share if you went to the show today.
Thanks in advance!
It was an evening performance wasn't it? It would still be on, no?
ATC as a brief report on their board. I wonder if Mistress was there.

Wow. Well, im not quite sure where to start. Some details seem somewhat unnecessary but a few people might enjoy them. I got there early and took in the posters in the driveway. When I went inside a bww lurker introduced herself to me and we chatted for quite a while, she promised me she'd join! I took a few extra playbills from one of the workers since they were just gonna throw them away. I saw a few other friends and fans while waiting around in the lobby. My seat was fairly center, I was in the 400's on the left aisle. I saw David Schwimmer (Ross/Friends) enter the theater, he didnt look like he wanted to be bothered too much, he was wearing a cap and all but we happened to look at each other so I just said a simple hi, enjoy the show. Broadway Betty waved to me when she entered the theater a section away from me. The show was truly amazing. Both Vicki and Kelli received entrance applause. The crowd was really into it. Matt got screams and cheers after his first song, Il Mondo Era Vuoto. The director and composer were both standing right behind me during that song and they were just as excited as everyone else. The cast held it together pretty well. Actually, I think there were more tears Saturday night than there were tonight *during* the performance- the curtain call is a completely different matter. Matt was visibly crying taking his bows and that pretty much made ME cry! Vicki gave a little speech for Peter Sachon, who is also leaving, he is the first cellist who is returning to Fiddler and hes been with the show for quite a while. Kelli gave a speech for Matthew. I dont remember it word for word but it was to the effect of how she wouldve never made it without him, she also used a Kahlil Gibran quote: When you are sorrowful, look again in your heart and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which was your delight. And she referred to Matt as her delight and she began crying finishing off how much shes going to miss him but that hes so ambitious and his careers on fire and they need to let him go so he can move on to bigger things. He jumped in to say 'im on fire' and stomp the floor- it got a laugh outta the crowd. They bowed again with Matt between Vicki and Kelli. After the show some of the ushers told me to tell Matt how theyre all gonna miss him and how wonderful he is and how they wish him the best in the future. The stage door was so crowded. Adam Guettel was signing autographs and we talked for a few mins (Betty finally got to meet him!). Bartlett Sher was joking about Matt being a bastard for leaving. Glenn Allen stopped to tease me about lookin pretty today (brat!). Also chatted with Deborah S. Craig (Spelling Bee) outside by the stage door and I saw Celia Keenan Bolger (Spelling Bee) and Michael Benjamin Washington (La Cage). I only chatted with Matt briefly, I was having one of those moments where I was too emotional to think of something worth saying. He had also spent quite a while in that crowd and he was gearing up to go party. I told him I had cried and he was just like, well that was to be expected. I got a big hug n a kiss and I let him go to his little partay. I cried a lot more later on the way home too. Sniff sniff.
Aww Mistress...everything sounded so wonderful...DAMN IT, I should have been there to kiss the ground that Adam Guettel walks on!!
Wow, sounds like a great night!
I am thrilled BroadwayBetty got to meet Adam Guetell after the show. I know that must of made her trip!

Mistress, do you want to know how I felt on the closing night of DOLLY's last revival? Multiply your feels by 10. I completely broke down on the train ride home and the conductor asked me what happened. I told him that I had just been with the best friend I've ever had in my life and this was probably the last time I would never see her again.
He gave me a Kleenex.
Mistress, I don't suppose Betty had Matt take a picture with any notes or messages did she?

sorry Patronus, I didnt see Betty take any pictures of Matt or with Matt. She did try to get me to cry at the stage door so she could take a picture of ME but I wasnt gonna let that happen...
Mistress- You didn't think he'd ever get another job?
I was at the show today was well. It really was a wonderful experience. Everyone was so into their performances and the curtain speeches were fabulous (and very emotional). Everyone was sweet at the stagedoor as well. I will definitely be going back again. I know david is going on for the next few days, but when does aaron actually take over the role?

P2, I was a teenager and I wasnt a big theater geek back then, I wasnt even thinking of theater as a business, so it just didnt occur to me that people can be in more than one broadway show or that he could become a bigger, more well known performer.
MS- Ah, I see...

thanks for your details spouzic... I'm so angry that I didn't get to meet Adam Guettel, and Deborah S. Craig! That really bums me out, and I almost wish I hadn't read that part. Do you think that Adam Guettel receives fan mail at the Vivan Beaumont? Maybe I'll write him saying that I wished I met him on the 28th... if January 1st is the final performance, then maybe he'll be there then too. It was hard reading your details, but thanks for them... I wish I had gone.

im sure adam gets mail at the theater.
Mistress - sounds like a wonderful evening. To me, it would have been worth it just to hear Kelli give that quote of Gibran's...it's beautiful and really sums up their love of working together. Now I've gotta see the show again.

Do write him - like most theatre folk - Adam certainly loves to be doted on. Trust me.
