Hello all!
I am going to be in New York next week and have time to see one show and I need help picking.
Here are the shows that I am considering:
Next to Normal
Billy Elliot
Exit the King
Blithe Spirit
Thanks so much!

Posted: 4/10/09 at 8:38pmIt would help to know what shows are among your favorites...but without any additional info I would suggest Next to Normal.

Haven't seen Next to Normal, but all the others are great.
I would have to say Exit the King though. Blithe Spirit if you have a chance to see two. Billy Eilliot is great, but it's gonna be around for a while, and it's not a show with a performance or actor that is a MUST SEE.

Thanks so much for all the responses so far!
Quickly, off the top of my head some of my favorites are:
Sound of Music
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Company
Grey Gardens
Hello Dolly!
Light in the Piazza
Jersey Boys
Coast of Utopia
Edit: Should I skip out on Billy? Is that general consensus that the show will be around for a while and it doesn't really matter which cast?

Posted: 4/11/09 at 3:26amNext to Normal! I saw Billy and N2N in the same weekend and, although Billy was great, I enjoyed N2N a lot more. And, as ratherbewhaling said, Billy's prices are crazy!!

From your favorites it sounds like you like things a bit more on the straightforward/traditional side...so I'd say skip Next to Normal.
Also, I agree BE will be around forever...so I'd go with Exit or Blithe, leaning to Blithe if you like Angela Lansbury at all...because she's a rock star in that show!

Thanks so much for all your help!
I've taken Billy out of the running so now I am between:
Exit the King
Next to Normal
Blithe Spirit
(What about Waiting For Godot? Is that worth it)
Anybody have anymore thoughts?

I'd say put Billy Elliot back on your list.
Yes, you'd have to pay full price, and it will be around for years, but here's your chance to see perhaps the best new musical to come along in years early in its run, and then go back home and watch the Tonys show and brag to everyone "hey, I was there".
It's a moost see!
