Sorry this is kind of a silly question but I checked ticketmaster and it says that the Lion King is playing at the New Amsterdam theater.
I go to NYU and they sell all kinds of tickets at lower prices to the students and on the sheet of events coming up there was "NYC Opera- La Boheme" and I wanted to see it so I was checking it out and it says its playing on a Saturday night at 8:00 at the New Amsterdam theater.
I thought that was a bit odd since Lion King does have a scheduled performance at the same time at the same theater. So I called NYU's ticket central to ask if there was a mistake and she said "No, the Lion King plays at the Amsterdam theater, there is a difference".
Maybe I am losing my mind but they both say on their sites NEW Amsterdam theater, so where does Lion King actually play and does one of these theaters have a performance of La Boheme coming up?!
Sorry if this isn't DIRECTLY broadway related, but its pretty close since Lion King is on broadway lol if I should move this to off topic let me know!
Thanks!
The New Amsterdam Theatre, which houses The Lion King, has always been named the New Amsterdam Theatre.
New Amsterdam was the name of the Dutch colony that was established on Manhattan. *history lesson of the day*
And La Boheme is playing at the New York State Theatre.
Is the NYC Opera production of "La Boheme" that is playing from March 12 -- April 23? Those productions are at the New York State Theatre at Lincoln Center. It is located between 62nd and 65th streets and Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues (maybe that is where the "Amsterdam" came from?).
The Lion King is at the New Amsterdam Theatre on 42nd Street.
Wow okay my school must have had a major typo on the site then because that is the production I am assuming- they also have tickets for the lion king and it is listed right under it, someone must have just messed up- thanks for the info enjolras!
