New CDs for my collection

I recently took advantage of the Australian dollar being so good and bought a stack of CDs from Amazon:

Jerry Herman:
- Hello, Dolly! (Broadway Deluxe Collector's Edition)
- Miss Spectacular (the Concept Album)
- Milk & Honey
- Dear World

Kander & Ebb:
- The Act
- Flora the Red Menace

- Hair (Broadway Deluxe Collector's Edition)
- Hair (the Actors' Fund of America Benefit Recording)
- How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Broadway Deluxe Collector's Edition)
- Once Upon a Mattress (the revival with Sarah Jessica Parker)
- My Fair Lady (Original Broadway Cast)

Then on Wednesday I managed to pick up cheap from Hum on King and Fish Records:

- Andrew Lloyd Webber: Divas
- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Original Canadian Cast Recording starring Donny Osmond)
- Ain't Misbehavin' (1995 London Cast Recording)

Finally, at JB Hi-Fi in Leichhardt yesterday I scored very cheaply:

- Cats (Australian Cast Recording 2CD set for $11! - they had another copy if anyone's interested)
- The Wiz (2CD film soundtrack)
- The Wiz (Original Cast Album)
- Baker Street (Original Broadway Cast)
- Evita (2CD film soundtrack)

Sondheim:
- Sunday in the Park With George (Original Cast Recording)
- Merrily We Roll Along (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

This should keep me busy until the end of the year. Anyone else picked up any bargains of late?

Yes, there is, and the film soundtrack needs to be reissued as well, expanded. The DVD needs a new print and special features (the Coffee Break song was filmed but never used - it's on the original soundtrack release, and the liner notes confirm it was filmed but cut).

How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

Well I don't think it's been on TV in Australia for about 20 years, but the one time I did see it, I don't recall the coffee break song. It's certainly not on the DVD as a deleted scene or in the film.

Do they show it in 2.35:1 or do they crop it to 1.85:1?

Hm... you obviously don't know about aspect ratios. Watch this.

I saw CATS in JB HIfi for cheap too. Very very cheap. I want to buy but I can't bring myself to :P.

I also bought Sweeney Todd OBC and Sunday OBC from JB too.

Embarrassment/Brainwashing by pretentious ALW bashers

Make sure you also get the Australain cast recording of Nine if you can find it

Don't be bullied into buying the crappy CATS CD.

Who's bullying?

Fish Records on the top floor of the QVB and have a good selection, but in the store in King Street, they've recently vastly improved their selection. I was in there for an hour looking.

My pleasure. I'm happy to help out any one who loves musicals.

Speaking of which, I have a brand new copy of SIDE SHOW (by Henry Krieger who composed DREAMGIRLS) which my partner bought me for my birthday without realising I already have it. Does anyone want it for $30.00? Free post.

Thanks for that, and welcome to the Australian messageboard. Are you an Australian living in Toronto or are you Canadian? In any case, you are welcome here. The number of contributors are slowly growing.

I'm looking forward to playing JOSEPH. I also recently bought the Australian Cast Recording of CATS and Madonna's 2 CD soundtrack of EVITA. Believe it or not, these 3 will be my first complete ALW - I've only had one compilation CD until now. I'm really looking forward to hearing them... which to play first...?
