His personal life had some spotty periods, like his first marriage and his alcoholism, so at least this’ll have some weight instead of it just being a career highlights tribute.

CBS aired a special at the time of his 98th birthday called, "Dick Van Dyke: 98 Years of Magic".
Given that this will be in theaters for only 2 days, and that the majority of interviews are with celebrities who have (very sadly) passed (as well as "a visit with the star to his hometown of Danville, Illinois", I wonder how much of this doc will be updated, or original?
Beyond any issues in his personal life, the man's career has been exceptional. Whenever I feel blue (ala 'Man in Chair'), I watch episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show on Amazon Prime. Takes me right back to my childhood when I watched them "first-run" on TV.

Even with all of his acclaim, I still feel that Van Dyke is underappreciated. He was a song and dance man, a sitcom star, and could play a scary sociopath (columbo). Who else has his range?
