I really do despise the "stunt casting" concept. LaChanze won a Tony for the role yet I don't recall seeing any advertisment that said "The Color Purple" starring LaChanze. Of course, I have made it known in more than one post that I think Fantasia is totally wrong for the role.

There is no denying the ad is AWFUL. Regardless of Fantasia. The ad is just AWFUL!

I personally like Fantasia, but not with bright gold hair. I'd like to know how she plans on pulling this off, after the whole "She can't read" thing.

Since the whole "she can't read thing" was like a year and a half ago and its been said that she has had tutors since before American Idol was over I'm pretty sure after all this time she has it under control. I don't personally know how long it takes to teach someone to be a better reader but I doubt it takes 3 years and its been about that long if not longer since she was on American Idol

I seem to have missed the whole "can't read" thing, but what's the overall context? Does she have a severe learning disorder that drastically impedes her ability to see the words straight on the page? Or are we leaning more towards the "couldn't be arsed learning properly in the first place and never bothered trying to fix it" end of the spectrum? 'Cos the way I see it, one of those is totally excusable, the other is less so. There is a *LOT* of reading in most people's everyday life, and if you're just not making the effort even though you're perfectly capable, then you're not really to be commended.

Do excuse me; most of my vitriol here is aimed at this marriage-destroying home-wrecking illiterate ****pig I know. But my point stands. And even if you do have a severe learning disorder, it's not like there aren't trained professionals out there who could help you if you were willing to just try.

I'm really disappointed to see this show somewhat cheapened.
Barrino is not an actress of Broadway caliber.
They should have gotten Latoya London or Heather Headley.

It's more like how is she going to portray and thoroughly understand such dramatic text, if just a few years ago she wasn't literate. I just hope she does fine, because she doesn't deserve anymore bad publicity.

I don't like the hair color. It's not because of the ad. I just don't like it. Also, she could have worn a purple shirt. Since its the Color Purple.

But I do like her smile very nice.

Yes the ad is terrible. Your eyes have no idea where to go when looking at it.
