New Frankel-Korie-Weidman musical 'Happiness' to play LCT in 2009

Oldish news, but it will indeed play in 2009 at the Newhouse. As a Grey Gardens and Pacific Overtures fan, I'm very excited! This is going to be a very busy season with Mr. Weidman with this playing at LCT and Bounce playing at The Public.

It IS awesome that there's going to be a new Frankel-Korie musical, but am I the only one who got excited that this might be some warped adaptation of Todd Solondz's 1998 film "Happiness"?

I too thought for a moment it was an adaptation of the movie Happiness. That would just signal the end of civilization, although such the project might make a terrific tongue-in-cheek Fringe Festival entry.

Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman will return to Lincoln Center, the home of her Tony-winning work Contact, to direct Happiness, which is about "a disparate group of New Yorkers caught on a subway train under unusual circumstances."

I am VERY excited for this.

Hopefully, Stroman can do some good work with this one. She really let me down with YF.

I know! I thought Adam Guettel was the future, but he takes so damned long to finish something. These guys are it!
